How do you guys do it, or do you guys even do it?

The states I've looked at require that you keep a rope on your boat that's (I think) the length of the vessel.

Where would you put said 7 foot rope on, say, a 550?

I've been riding all this time without a rope... :smoker:

on my RN with a stock hood i keep a rope in the fire extinguisher compartment... cuz i don't carry a fire ext. anyway...

on my new ski, with AM hood i plan to coil a rope up and put it under my ratcheting hood strap i bought from E.J.

I have a 750 sxi/pro. I put rope in the torpedo storage container at the rear of the boat, (I have footstraps, not footholds so they are still intact). Although if I did not have those, I would find someplace in the engine compartment and secure it in there. Like under a strap; gas tank, battery, etc.

The rope doesn't need to be very thick or heavy; it just needs to be strong.

I've seen a few people put the rope around their waist for easy access.

Under the hood straps is probably the best idea if you're running an aftermarket hood and in the fire extinguisher container if you're running the stock hood.

It also helps to have tow loops on the front and rear of the ski for fast attachments in the surf.

The rope should also have a stainless carabiner attached to both ends easy hook-ups.

my rope is a little POS.... it would hold my ski no doubt... I dont even know if Ohio requires a rope... I never found anything under their boating laws that requires it, but I keep a little piece anyway just in case I need a tow in.

Thats great until the coast guard asks to see your rope and your fire extinguisher.

We don't need a rope in MO and they have already inspected my fire extinguisher with the rope in it unknown to them and gave me a passing grade and a sticker.:nana:
