Freestyle RRP pole set up with spring

I recently bought a new ski with a RRP pole with a spring. The pole wants to sit all of the way forward. Any ideas of how to keep it closer to the ski? I just don't want it to fly forward it I fall off of the ski. I have a pole limiting rope but the loop that connected to my hood latch on my SN won't work on the new ski. It doesn't allow the hood to latch down. I thought about using a caribiner and a metal loop attached to the ski. Thoughts? Can I overtighten the big bolt on the pole bracket causing damage? Thanks for the help

On over tightening the bolt, it depends on how much gap you have between the bushings and bracket/poll. My RRP poll is pretty snug their. I've heard of people adding shims to take up slop too.

On my wife's previouse RN with Blowsion heavy duty spring we over tightened the bolt to the point the poll stayed where you put it with out bracket breaking issues. I've run it in the middle too, partially tight but a little springy.

I'd have a look at your gap first if ok start tightening some.

Removing the spring and heating and bending the tip again is an option but a hassle

Cold fusion sells a real nice small loop to attach to your dash for a limiting rope. Looks way better than a hug Home Depot eyelet like I had.


Edit: another option you might consider is switching to a poll spacer and remove the spring. Checking gap with the spring installed would be pretty hard.

You could remove the RRP spring seat and shorten it, if you aren't using one of those you either have the spring installed correctly, or the wrong spring and need to heat and bend it to relieve some tension.

The spring was installed by the previous owner and I just bolted the bracket on. I haven't messed with the spring. Not sure if I have access to a torch to bend it either.

Do not over tighten the rrp pole bolt it will snap. You need to make a spacer inside the bracket that will let it pinch the bracket instead of pulling it together. My pole bolt snapped and I made a sleeve between the bracket and I still of the spring in there. My pole moves effortlessly and stays where it is when you let go of the bars when you're getting a little daring out there

This is how it looks now. I just know when I was tightening the bolt it was making an awful sound when I moved the pole up and down. Like nails on a chalkboard

This is how he had the pole laying. Looks like theres no limiting rope so I figured I could keep tightening the bolt.

Looks like a cast pole, it will break if too tight. Bob bracket also so I don't know how the spring fits.

You want the limiting rope, add a mount to the dash and use the rope to stop it from going too far up.

Yeah i will be running the rope no matter what. Just didn't know where to put the anchor. Ill be ordering a CF eyelet for the anchor. I almost have to push the pole down to keep it at riding level. Not pushing hard but keeping pressure on it to keep it from rising. Guess I will just ride it and see how it goes then make adjustments as needed.

Prolly the cheapest thing to do is just heat and bend the spring so its relaxed enough to have the poll sit on the hood/poll shock pad......

Can you mount that eyelet to the tray side of the Ebox bracket mounting bolts ? Not sure how your set up if this is possible.

Yeah thats where I will mount it. The tray is wide open.

Another question. The ski has a scupper so should I add a bilge for added security or does it even matter? Im coming from a 94 SN so I like doing subs more than anything. Not sure if I will do them on the BOB but also don't want a bunch of water inside the hull

Yes, always have a bilge, scuppers leak and can fail.

When I built My Fs2 a few years ago I had the same problem. In my case, I was using a Blowsion heavy duty spring which was way too stiff. I ended up installing a new OEM spring and the problem went away. With the OEM spring the pole sits where ever you leave it without having to crank on the pole bolt. It's perfectly balanced.
