"Get your motor runnin, head out on the highway"

Not totally sure how you can complain about the difference between motor and engine when the most popular dictionary company has updated their definition of motor to specifically include internal combustion engine. Now if the definition of motor was limited to "any of various power units that develop energy or impart motion", then you could split hairs. However, in todays world a motor is an internal combustion engine...by definition. To say it isn't would be incorrect English.

If the definition of motor includes internal combustion engine among other things, then wouldn't it be more correct to say Engine? If you just say motor it could be any kind of motor, engine is more accurate. Internal combustion engine is most accurate.

I don't know why someone needs to heat water already hot- IE hot water heater

Pretty sure I've heard Jace says he's "pulling his motor" before, didn't know x-scream made an electric motor

Funny you brought this up, my father (70 years old) always says to me, "Why do you call it a motor? It's an engine, motors are electric."

Living the dream.
I removed the motors from my engineboat, enginecycle, and enginehome.

There's nothing like taking the car out for an engine on the engineway in England.

Hey Matt... aren't you a motorneer or something?

Now that is splitting hairs...

Let's add one more thing to this rant. Composites are almost always used in when talking about fiberglass, kevlar, or carbon. Yet kevlar, carbon fiber, and fiberglass by themselves are not composites until they are combined with resin. Composite just means the combination of more than one item. Technically a motor mount or engine mount is a composite structure since it has rubber and metal. Aluminum alloy is a composite but if someone said they work in a composite shop and only work with metal, you'd think they were f-ing retarded.

Right or wrong, these words are interchangeable to 99% of the population so you can either live with it or be pissed about it but you aren't going to change it.
