Long story short, A year ago at this time I knew virtually nothing about skies expect the fact I had a pair of SN's that I had just purchased sitting in the garage and couldn't wait for the ice to melt. After one short WI riding season (shortened even more from a blown engine) under my belt I sold my Supermoto, a few more skies, and picked up a used BOB hull.

Fresh out of the shipping crate. Still smelt like resin from the reinforcements and pod modifications that were done to suit my skill level, or lack of, and engine setup.

The hull was setup with an x-metal pole bracket so the first thing I did was recreate the bracket based off the breather tube and bolt holes. Still need to add some pole stops. Any recommendations on how for I just let the pole lift up? I'll be running a WDK pole

Chased all of the insert threads and got most of the engine bay hardware installed. Also converted my stock tank to internal fill. I hate the yellowed tank but it'll have to do for now. Unfortunately, this is as far as I've gotten. I'm waiting for my top end and polyurethane motor mounts to arrive so I can start mocking up the rest of the engine bay.

I guess that's what I get for not proof reading my post. What I was referring to are the stops that keep the pole from rotating all the way forward. I still need to add them to my bracket and was questioning how high the pole should be allowed to pivot before hitting the stops. Obviously I will also be running a limit rope.

The pole stops on my xmetal bracket are about 1.25" at the rear with about a 45 degree angle.l ground mine down to work with the rrp pole. Will that help you?

Had some time to work on the ski today. I got my exhaust manifold and head pipe bored out to 50mm and cleaned up the rest of the manifold while I was at it.

Since I was having so much fun the mini die grinder, I decided to open up my WDK pole to accept dual breather tubes. This was a pain to do. I started by drilling a bunch of small holes and stepping up bit sizes until I got the center section knocked loose. Then I went at it with the die grinder to get the rest of the material out. I wore out my slap disks so I wasn't able to finish the pole today.

Also got my stock 1990 SJ pump prepped for dual cooling. The JB weld is drying tonight so I should be able to tap it tomorrow and setup my X-metal trim that arrived today!

Got some more work done on the build this weekend.

My x-metal trim came in so I got that installed. Pretty straight forward but it did require a good amount of grinding on my reduction nozzle to allow full pull. I like everything about the x-metal system except the lever. It just feels cheap to me. It's small and the tension adjuster lock is plastic. I have a set of spare mt. bike levers I may try instead. Also did the steering mod to my turn nozzle to get maximum throw out of the steering.

My polyurethane engine mounts also arrived last week. I'm very impressed with the quality of work on these. I sand blasted an old set of broken mount bases and powder coated them before sending them out. Everything looks new and clean now.

Next I started working on a template for an adapter plate I'm going to make to run a fat bar setup with the WDK steering I have. I'm pretty sure my WDK pole is -4 and the steering plate is super short so I'm planning on building the adapter with a few bar mount locations to play around with over all pole/steering length. It works out nice by rotating the bar clamp 180* it will adjust the length by just short of one inch. I plan on making the plate long enough for three different mount locations to start with.

I got my new top end so the engine will be coming apart this week and the cylinder going out to Art and Jetwerks to bore and take a look at the porting on my cylinder.

On your steering nozzle mod, make you a piece of aluminum that will fit over the area, drill a couple of holes in it.Mainly used for some added strength, since you ground some of the plastic down to let the bolt get closer.

Tonights work

Forced myself to stay at work after a 14 hr day to remove the stock couplers and tear my engine down. The coupler wasn't horrible, but didn't pop right off either. Started cleaning up some up some parts and had to call it a night.

Has anyone powdercoated epoxied cases? I'd like to coat mine but don't wanna risk F'n up that cases.

Spent the better part of today working on the BOB. Felt like I got a good amount of stuff done. Finished my steering plate adapter, made a steering cable lock, steering stop/support pillar for my pole over, modified the pole cover chin pad. Lots of little details that just eat up time.
