I wasn't too concerned with the pump. I laid down a layer of Adtech filler mixed with fiberglass strands on the bulk head and sanded it at a taper until the midshaft sits square without any shims. Drive line is good to go now. Just ordered a bunch of supplies to get rolling on this build.
Last of my materials showed up today. Unfortunately, I have to head out of town for X-mas so no work will get done until next week. I will be using two different carbon cloths mixed with Kevlar and US Composites Epoxy resin to keep this baby as light as possible. This sh$t adds up in a hurry.
Started shortening the rear today. Went 3" on the out side of the hull, just shy of 3 1/2" on the inside. It still retains some of the factory angle on the rear, but is not as severe now.
Also cut the rear lip of the bond line. I plan on running the rear out flat and matching the upward slope the factory hull has above the reduction nozzle. Taped off the bottom of the hull and filled the top side with 2 part foam.
I tried to cut the rest of the material off from the bottom side hoping to be able to shape the foam I had, but couldn't get in tight enough with my multi tool I was using so I had to pop the foam out and grind everything smooth then refoam from the bottom side. This is where I quite for the night. All in all, it went pretty smoothly. First time cutting into a hull, first time using the two-part foam. I was a bit nervous going for the first cut. I plan on shaping the rear tomorrow and hopefully laying some carbon down.
Sanded and shaped the foam on the rear this morning then put down a layer of kevlar and carbon.I couldn't get one of the pumps for US composite to work, so I had to mix per volume on a mixing container which resulted in way more resin that I needed. Doesn't appear to be curing very quickly so I'm hoping I get a close enough mix ratio for it to set up. The kevlar layed up nice, the carbon was a bit heavy and a b!tch.
Got the top side prepped and laid a layer of kevlar and carbon inside the hull and over the rear. I just used a piece of cardboard and a layer of vacuum bag material to block of the rear of the hull. Second time around using these materials went a lot smoother.
Got a little more done this weekend.
My BOB holds and tubbies came last week.
Started hacking up my top deck. It was too damn cold to think about laying carbon this weekend, so I'm just trying to get as much done so hopefully next weekend I can lay a lot up.
I decided to do the nose job. Hoping to come out about 4" shorter than stock with raised nose and a little more rocker.
Pole mount will be about 3-4 inches forward.
Went ahead and cut the nose. Poured some more foam and shaped it up tonight. I have a little more blending on the sides and light sanding to make sure everything is symmetrical and hopefully I'll be laying some carbon on it tomorrow.
