Can you post a pic of how you are going to position your feet when using that front hold? I love out of the box ideas like this but I can't figure out how you intend to use it.

Great build...

I planned to do mine but everybody freaked, (Bobby and my Wife) when I went to actually do it and said it would look bad. I love the look without it too but it's just too much of a hazard so i will be doing mine once I get a few more chips, chunks and scratches in them.

I was just thinking for riding backwards etc! I'll make sure not to tell bobby thats the plan though..

I think you're safe. Since Scott sent him pics of his cut up tray everything else we do is childs play. Just kidding Scott.... he just didn't want to break up the look of the all black ski with the turfed rails. He likes the turfed rails on other colors than black.

A little bird told me last night that Matrix #9 is in the molds and will be another "Pro" version. :27:

Once again, the ski is already done. I have ridden it already and posted my ride report in earlier posts. Hoping to get another chance to ride it this weekend.

There's a few more little differences between our skis than just the -2" hull so it's going to take some time to figure out what causes what but my first impression was that this is a very stout little ski. I couldn't believe how solid it felt and how quickly it turned. It was a bad surf day though so it didn't see much air and we are all looking forward to riding it again.

The tray mod is the bee's knees; the cat's pajamas! :Banane09: the front left foothold really works great and the tray feels bigger that my modded wide tray.
Love it, will be doing mine this way over the winter.

Oh I caught it but i had to respace the letters for the program to correct it and was therefore not able to just print over it again. It is corrected in the black label but I haven't had a chance to rerun the red label. It takes over an hour to run. I need to add the hull weight to the larger ones too as i thought of it after.

I had a couple slow days at work so I was messing around learning how to use our engraver. These are just some examples as we work towards what we actually want them to say and look like. I've been pitching this idea to Bobby and he wanted to see what it would look like. I liked the larger ones but Scott said he wanted something smaller and more discrete.

Well, I got to spend some more time on Scott's ski yesterday and all I can say is I love the way he has it set up. Scott thinks I have more power but his ski handles so much better that for once I am the jealous one going home to work on mine. Considering he has a -2" hull, his still rides more nose down way than mine and slides out way easier and turns in the face of the wave so much better.

Adjusting the neutral trim angle has a huge effect on our skis. I currently run mine around 7deg up from zero and Scott has his set at zero or close to it. He also has a really short stock ride plate cut flush with the back of the hull. Despite these things, his still rides with the nose lower. I originally set my trim angle up to provide lift to the nose but the downside is that it plants the back of the ski. With his angle set to neutral, it doesn't plant the back so the ski rides flatter and slides out so much easier. I'm not much of a flipper or a roller and mostly focus on learning to slash the waves and i couldn't believe how easy it was to ride into the face of a wave and just crank it around. I'd jump back on mine and felt like I was riding an SXR again, lol. Anyone on the fence about going with the shortened hull needs to ride this ski. The Matrix is so stable already that shortening the hull only adds to it's maneuverability without taking away any of it's stability and predictability.

Since Scott and I have very similar power it makes it so much easier to focus on the handling and what effects the setup actually has on the ride. Overall I am very happy with the Matrix and am having a harder time going back to a Superjet, evident in the fact that I hardly let anyone ride my ski yesterday except Scott. I don't mind guys riding my ski, I just wasn't interested in riding anyone elses. I am quickly becoming a Matrix snob, lol.

I haven't posted anything on how I like the new ride because the surf has really sucked lately until this weakend. I don't want to be one of those guys who tell you how great their new ski is when they haven't really spent time on it. It takes riding in all kind of conditions to get a true opinion of it's handling.

The first two rides, the surf was super choppy and shin slappers for waves, this week was a little rough and knee to waist high surf. The water was so cold, I tried hard not to get wet, but I did get a better feel for the Matrix. I can't wait for one of those smooth, chest to overhead summer days.

Each time I have ridden it, I have had all my buddies (SJ, SJ w/ tubbies, Wamiltons SXR, standard length Matrix and a -4 square nose with tubbies) to trade rdes with, so I'm getting a good comparison.

The first time I rode it I had a full length w/ d-cut ride plate (ski is -2") on a real choppy day with small surf. It was easy to ride but it did not carve like my friends SJ with tubbies. I spun a prop off before I could try some setups, I thought it was OK, but was liking the SJ.

Next time I rode, it was choppy and small again. I changed to the short ride plate and tried the nozzle adjusted up a few degrees. Man, the ski would pop out of the water quick, but would unload the pump causing the motor to hit the rev limiter. The next set, I dropped the trim square to the bottom, that was it. It held the nose down which made it turn. Handling was much better, but it was so rough you couldn't get a real feel. What I did notice is that I was not near as tired as I was on my SJ. The wide bond rails keeps the ski stable so you are not constantly correcting which wears you out. I don't think I fell in the whole day.

The next time we rode, it was rough, but not near like the first two rides and there was some surf. This is when I really started to appreciate this ski. The ski turns on a dime. It's not a twitchy carve, it's a controlled slide. Landing re-entries sideways in the white water always made me loose it on my SJ, the Matrix just control sides over it. I got on Jim's SJ with tubbies, I didn't feel at home any more. After riding a SJ for years, I noticed I had to keep the pole on the hood of the SJ to keep it stable.

The turned up nose gives you the confidence that you are not going to stick it coming down the face of a wave. Again, did I tell you how stable it is!!! I'm really liking this thing.

I'm a hit or miss roller. Most of the waves were small and water was shallow and cold, so I didn't try any rolls, but Jim and Tanner were throwing them left and right on this ski. They liked it.

Flat water handling, I don't know, we have an ocean.

So far like it, as I get to ride it in different conditions I'll give you an update. Later....

I think it rides great on flatwater. I was getting 3/4 rolls on it so with a little practice all take it all the way around. Need to work on my wake making skills...not so good.
