seat mod

did you use polyester resin or west systems epoxy resin? polyester resin will delaminate from the SMC hull of the x2. just hope if you used polyester resin you roughed up the surface and prepped it VERY well...

I am doing the same thing to my X-2; however, I am molding a KX85 seat and mine will be a little lower than yours. I like the look of yours now, the KX85 seat is much shorter so mine will have a little different look.

The only thing I am sceptical on is how the stock seat will be better for deep water mounting do to the padding, but it will be something I will get used to. Plus I figure the new X-2 don't have padding there and I don't hear of people complaining so it all must be good.

Looks good man.. nice work.. Hood turned out real good to. How are you gonna get air in. I ended up mounting a stock intake on to let it breathe. Also, I see that you have glassed over the exhaust.. You doing rear exhaust? or just moving it.. I feel for you cause I was in the same situation last year.. but it is worth it in the end.:headbang:

exhaust is going out about halfway back in the front of the foot well on the right side, ive got toms tubbies on the way so I will mount it right behind them. got more pics will post later!

as for the blasterish, are you serious? lol

as for air i will post a few more pics of that too, the hole beneath the steering is a tube going all the way through with holes drilled along the top.

sorry for thread stealing.... didn't mean to. will make my own so look for continued in that.

anybody have a good idea for a seat latch or something for me? i epoxied in a nut in the back and i was going to do something for that but fairing the recessed spot is a PAIN. considering just a lot of 5200 since i never have to access under the seat anyway :p i have a little thing holding the front down that it slides into, but i just need to hold It from sliding back. im thinking a :):):):) load of 5200 would work. there is no need for the seat to ever come off except to recover it, in which case i could just peel up the 5200 by force. it may look cleaner with no bracket or anything especially considering how frick tired i am getting of FILLER GRRRRRR

Thats why I turfed mine. You don't sit on an X2 anyway, why have a seat? I sat on mine maybe two-three times max, just to take my girlfriend for a ride.

I enjoy kneeling down and putting my butt on the seat.

its enjoyable to me to cruise the lake with my butt on the seat :p

plus after all that work to make the mx seat work i cant just throw it aside!

Read post #12 in this thread.

If you leave the seat area hollow w/ a drain, you could probably install the waterbox and the extinguisher under the seat.
