Super happy with my setup right now. Will be adding more camera come springtime. Have caught a bunch of funny stuff on camera so far (fell up the stairs a few times after a couple too many beers and caught my dog biting the neighbors dogs ass etc etc). Installation was super easy minus me colorblind and having issues separating the cat 5 cable

Looks great!

Did you set up motion or do you record 24/7?

I'm really hoping Reolink comes out with a motion preview feature like other systems have. Record everything but flag motion events for high speed playback and review.

With that feature, once your motion is dialed in, you can review each camera in minutes and you will see some crazy things you would have been otherwise oblivious to.

I unfortunately haven't messed with the motion feature yet and just record 24/7. I plan on doing that when we get another cold snap whenever that is. Is setting up for motion difficult?

Aren't you a premier Reolink tester? You should suggest to them about flagging events for review :)

I mentioned it a few times in the reviews that I have sent back but I haven’t ever gotten a response about it.

I should post it to their Q&A section so it can’t be missed.

Motion itself is fairly easy to set up but you can spend hours tweaking to get the sensitivity right. They let you break the day up into 4 sections and set the gain differently for each one. Typically I just use it as two modes, night and day and set accordingly.

The biggest problem for me has been the spiders, flying insects and floating mist that reflects the IR back into the cameras and cause countless false alarms. Pretty frustrating and pretty much nothing you can do about it other than spraying chemicals and/or ignoring the false triggers.

My reolink has alsways done this. At least through the app. I haven't used the nvr since I set it up. Not sure what settings I might have clicked? I do get alot of false alarms but still let's you cut out alot of dead time I'd otherwise have to watch.

That’s because you have yours set to record on motion or alarm only.

If you set it to record 24/7, then everything gets marked as normal.

The higher end software still flags motion events in that instance which is the best of both worlds.

I see quite a few of the newer Reolink POE cameras aren’t coming with the auxiliary power supply anymore.

I have several spare if anyone needs one to run a POE camera without the POE.

What cover you running on your LS?

@The OCD Garage have you checked on that flir system? I put it in my cart used the promo code and took 180 off the price. Then they added 60 dollars for shipping and 102 dollars for taxes, just wondering if there is a better option for purchasing their setup without getting raped on taxes and shipping. We have folks creeping around in the area and I want to get a system up and running asap.

I’m a couple months from doing anything still so no, I have not.

The deal I posted was from Sam’s club or Costco and was almost half price. Is that the same one you looked at?

Man, prices are changing fast so I'm glad I posted screenshots to capture the price at the time.

Here's the original link my buddy sent, regularly $2499, then $939.99, now on sale for $1199.

Here's the second link my buddy sent me. It's already gone up from $1799 to $1999 so the first deal may be the better way in and then buy extra cameras as they come on sale.

Ok so after looking into the lorex reviews,im now a bit hesitant on them. Seems the cameras are awesome but the tech/customer support is non existent. Lots of negative reviews from several sites. I also went to check back on the reolink systems since they have been so highly recommended here, and while reading reviews on them I see this guys backyard in his review. I looked again and thought, " i feel like I know this place" sure enough its one of our own @Peter123 and his big fancy backyard! I know you havent bought this new setup yet @The OCD Garage, but what is pushing you towards it and away from reolink setup you use currently? Just curious as I am trying to get the best bang for the buck with whatever system I go with. Screenshot_2018-01-30-22-50-16.png

I have been incredibly happy with all aspects of my Reolink system so I am quite certain that I will continue on with my current system, even in the new house. My only reason to upgrade would have been to gain the fast review feature of motion events. I’d also gain some resolution but if it’s at the cost of customer support, I don’t think it would be worth it in the end.

Not to mention missing out on the camera beta testing program. I’ve gotten 2 complete camera’s to play with for free plus half off two more of a newly introduced product.

Reolink as a product and as a company has been very good to me and I look forward to seeing what they do in the future.

And I bet they come out with my desired feature at some point!!!

Thanks Boyer! I think we are gonna go forward with a reolink setup, and I still have several hundred feet of cat 6 from when I networked the house so I am gonna try to run my future cameras now so when I order more it will be plug amd play.

I have both and much prefer the bullets but both have their place.

If you buy a mix of both, you can try them in different locations and use whichever better suits.

I have the bullets for the corners and then the domes for above the entrances.
