If there is, I have't found it yet. We have a 24" Monitor on the shelf above the cabinet so if I have a long period to review, I'll put it on display at 4x speed and just keep an eye on it while we watch TV.

FYI, for those looking to upgrade to a 4K system, it will only review footage at 4x speed where the 4/5 MP NVR's would go up to 16x. Not exactly a deal breaker but it does take way longer to review footage than before.

Life is better in 4K!

brenth561: Let us know how the mobile phone app works for you in reviewing the wyze cam recordings. It does not have PC laptop/computer video review ability.

I bought one wyze cam to try because I was grumpy with Nest and because Google is an evil, elitist, anti-Trump company.

But I don't use wyze cam now because its video review mobile phone app was really unusable at least by me and because it did not record but 12 secs of video at a time.

But I really like how wyze cam has forced Nest to reduce its offline storage prices now down to $5/mo. per camera! Because of wyze I have bought two new outdoor IQ Nest cams! I say Go Wyze Cam! Keep getting better and keep your prices down!

Gotta love the Free Market!

We have standardized on Avigilon for all our cameras at work so I am in the middle of designing the new system for the facility we are upgrading this year. The Avigilon rep came down from Atlanta a couple days ago to convince us it was worth all the money. Having done the last facility with Reolink and seeing the limitations, this should prove a pretty interesting comparison. I spent $25k in equipment and install on the Reolink systems where the Avigilon will likely run $125K for equipment alone and over $200K for installation. The difference in capability is staggering but then again, so is the cost difference.

They have some pretty cool analytic stuff that is way overboard for our business needs but would be so awesome to play with!

These don't have analytics but I would still love a few of these at the house.

I got a new hitch hauler and took a bunch of pics with my iPhone 7 then decided to grab one off the surveillance cams.

I won’t argue that it’s past time for an upgrade but it’s pretty bad when a surveillance cam takes a better pic than a phone.

Crazy, I stumbled across these new Reolink 4K dome cameras today while looking to see if they offer a 16CH 4K NVR yet.

You would think that they would do a better job of advertising a new camera line. If I didn't know any better, I'd say they aren't too interested in pushing their 4k line quite yet.

Anyways, I ordered a pair to replace our 4MP door cameras at $79 each. We'll try them out and report back.
They don't ship out until Jan 1st 2020.

Heads up to anyone waiting for Reolink to release a 16Ch version of their 4K NVR.

It’s been a long time in the works but apparently will be released sometime in January 2020.

Hopefully a 4K PTZ won’t be too far behind as well.

So, nighttime pic in color rather than Black and white captured with IR?

Pretty sure there’s a game cam with that feature.

Not game cam still photo with IR. Rather, still photography with blinding visible white light strobe (and I will add a siren). Note that it was the car alarm with flashing lights that sent the thief away in the Reolink video. Not the Reolink video footage...

I have some recent IR video of two thieves. One just stood there looking at the camera. The Sheriff says it is not helpful because they don't know who he is.

Also a still photograph captured with visible blinding white light strobe would be best to illuminate the likely stolen license plate on the pickup truck they likely drove.

.

This^^ Reminds of the Ring commercial where it shows a ton of people getting there packages stolen. The camera didn't deter anyone or get any packages back..

@E350 Another idea is to use a deer sprinkler. Or make your own:

There are many cases where the packages were recovered because they were able to identify people but, I do agree that a camera system is more documentation than deterrent.

In all the surveillance footage I have watched over the years, the number one thing that made the thieves run or hide was the lights coming on.
In the first video I ever posted, the guy ran when I flashed the lights on the truck and then set off the panic mode. The second video I posted, where the group of people worked every vehicle down both sides of our street, they didn't startle until the motion lights went off on the very last house. They didn't avoid the houses with the lights on either.

Now, in the case of the first guy I ever caught on my cameras, and chased on foot; if I was in that scenario again, I would just dial 911 and continued to watch him an feed the cops intel rather than tipping the guy off that I was on to him.
