Well it looks like our Spider control program is finally starting to kick in.

The birds found the last house in a matter of months but this new one has taken over a year. Being on water, they have an insect buffet to choose from every day.

Anyone else made the jump to 4K yet?

We lost a bunch of electronics in a recent lighting storm, including one of our PTZ cams and a couple ports on the NVR. The NVR started acting up a week later so we pulled the trigger on a pair of the 8CH 4K NVR’s and 12 new cams.

These are scaled down for the forum but you can still the difference between the before and after pics from a 5MP RLC-410 to the new 8MP NVR-B800

The 4K cams were supposed to see color at night but so far I’m not seeing it, unless it just extends the point it switches to black/white by a few minutes.

It’s still early and not pitch black yet but the night vision seems to be much improved.

Dang Boyer, those are crystal clear. What system are you running now?

Still Reolink. They released a 4K system (8MP) a couple months ago.

I should have snagged these back when they had introductory pricing but we were holding out for a 16CH NVR. So far there is no sign of one on the horizon so we bit the bullet and just got a pair of the 8CH units for $549 each.

I did get a pair of the 4K cams when they were on sale but I should have grabbed 4 total. I didn’t expect my wife to green light replacing every single camera. The only ones I didn’t upgrade were the PTZ and domes. Those will have to wait till suitable upgrades are released.

Most anxiously waiting on the 4K PTZ.

Tomorrow I will be trenching in a 1/2” conduit so I can run the last two cameras out to Turtle Island.

I will be replacing the two 1080P Argus Pro WiFi Cams with fully wired 4K units.

Should be a huge upgrade for watching turtles.

For anyone not happy with the focus of a particular camera, they are adjustable.

I opened up both Turtle Cams today and manually focused them down to 5 feet. The 4/5 MP cams have a single setscrew that has to be released before you can turn the adjuster but the 4K units are actually glued in place.

I used a heat gun to soften it up and it peeled right out.

I setup a test station with 3 focus points and here are the before and after pics.

So far it’s pretty impressive and I think I nailed the focus.

Anyone ever have any issues with getting cameras connected back to the NVR? I turned off a breaker in my house to replace an outlet and unfortunately it was on the same circuit as my NVR. Since then, 2 of my cameras refuse to go back to previewing instead of offline.

I have tried to reboot the NVR, manually reboot the camera, unplug the ethernet cord powering the camera and Reolink support is less than helpful.

I’ve had some come up and not go back to the old channel it was assigned previously. Just had to reassign it a channel to display on.

Scroll over in the setup screen and see if there are any reasons given. I’m guessing either incorrect password or no channel selected.

Got blinky lights on those channels on the back where they plug into the NVR?

Yep, I do have blinky lights like it is recognized

@OCD Solutions whats the best waycto playback all of a days events? I never use the app because its so slow and checking the cams at the nvr means going upstairs which I hate doing. And I dont want to be up there all night. Whats the fastest way to scan thru all my days worth of data?

Reolink has a review feature, however it’s only really useable from the NVR itself. You just search a range of time and sort by motion events, then playback and it will skip through all the motion events.

Mines in my living room in the stereo cabinet and it still sucks. I would love to have a way to review the footage remotely from my office.

At some point I will likely add a KVM switch just to remote in from my office chair rather than kneeling down in front of the console for an hour straight and kill my knees.

I only have 6 cams on my system, but a couple of them capture motion events almost all day long. I dont have an hour to review the stuff, i added a tv to the system to be able to monitor it from the nvr. Just wasnt sure if there was a better way to make it all come together and sweep thru a days events faster.
