Getting my truck stuck on the bank. Launched the skis no problem but got buried when I went to pull them out, sank a 03 duramax 2500 to the frame rails and had to sit there for 3 hours while boat traffic passed and laughed.... The lesson was don't go to the local spot without a local...

Back in High school, I took a girl to eastern washington for a weekend lake adventure. I had my couch and a 550JS my buddy loaned me for the trip. Got both skis in the water, and we headed down the lake side by side. I look over and she waves, I wave back, the ski turns sideways and stops, I keep going forward... Not so bad, but when I try and pull the skis out I backed my truck in too far and the back tires fall off the paved launch and wont climb back up. Wish I had my toyos back then. So we waited a few hours until I found someone to pull me out. Almost ran out of gas, I didnt want to kill the truck with my pipe that far under. I was quite embarrassed.

After spending the night in my boat on an island at Lake Keowee, I decided to tow my ski back to the marina instead of riding it. During the tow I kinda forgot about it and when I looked back it was gone. I thought the rope broke. Turns out the ski had submerged and I was pulling it like a fishing lure.

Probably the worse thing I can remember is playing way to close in Daytona and loosing perspective. Next thing I knew all the water was gone and I was flying haha. Did it in front of way to many people and well known riders to boot.
Live and learn I guess

We all still do that here and we ride all the time. Hell, even Slutty went over the bars the other day. haha. Its just the waves suck unless you ride in the shallows. gotta risk it.

Thread revival. back when I first started riding I had bought a clapped out 100 dollar 550 piston port that didn't run. I was going to the lake for a week in 5 days so I quickly had another engine sent to me dropped in it and had the ski running at 7 am the day I was heading to the lake. naturally I didn't have any money for a finger throttle so I just ran a bike brake and went riding. fast forward 5 or 6 days at the lake after having a few sinkings 1 fire and a ride plate that was falling off all the time I had finally got the ski somewhat ironed out. Well I had realized that my throttle would only go about 70 percent open with the hand brake throttle I was running. Feeling pretty confident in my abilities I had decided to adjust the cable alittle to get the 100 percent throttle.

This is where things went wrong for me. I lost hold of the ski and that POS circled the lake at 10 mph for 2 hours with no less then a dozen people trying to get it. we tried lassoing it with another ski grabbing it as it rode by jumping on it with other skis but it was just going to fast. It ended up running out of fuel about 2 miles down from my camp site and I had to get a boat to go get it. The park ranger was pissed when he saw it and we were all HEAVILY intoxicated. That was about 5 years ago but me and my friends still talk about it time to time. I ended up cutting the ski up and scrapping it after burning up the engine and realizing piston ports suck.

Riding 550 by self in late afternoon
Happen upon an active porn scene (cameras and all) on the shore of a backwater lake
rode right by them and they didn't skip a beat
ski runs out of gas on way out while riding back to camp to get buddy's
I end up getting towed by a boat with 4 dudes and a smokin hot Euro chick back to camp
The whole way back they were staring at me and talking/smiling.
I was really young and embarrassed.
