Shipped Motor Damage - What to do?

Can you name the seller so we can all avoid that person in the future?
Everyone is so quick to hate. I have no idea who the seller is or the buyer for that matter. I'll bet if the seller sees this thread that he's already learned from his mistake and will package things better. Hopefully he will reach out to brightE as well after seeing this.

If the seller won't make it right, I would definitely out him on here. That way the community knows what they're getting into - before they purchase something from him in the future.

For real, I don't know why some one wouldn't want to know who the seller is, especially if he doesn't want to make it right (whatever that might be in this case). If its a motor or a hull what is pictured and what's in person should be the same. Keeping the seller responsible that the item is everything its cracked up to be...

much ado over nothing. Just my opinion though. I would want it to be packed better, but there is a very good chance no harm was done at all other than a couple of scratched head bolts. I believe this is more of a principle thing than actual shipping damage. but each to his own. im not mad at cha.

I'm actually 100% with you on this the more this plays out. I'm less pissed about the motor and more just pissed that the guy couldn't take responsibility for his crappy pack out.

I'm probably going to drop the PayPal claim and just live with being a little burnt.

If you drop the claim you can't refill

Don't drop the claim. Seek it through and see, unless you believe the seller truely learned his lessen and is sorry. I'm with you on principal and everybody, especially members, should be better than that. Principal is one of my biggest things I look at in business or in personal life. Even though it really isn't anything more than just negligence on buyer and not caring after the fact. I'd seek it through, but that's me. Maybe not worth your time but have nothing to lose.

If he was someone new or felt bad after the fact I'd say cut him a break. But if he said he knows what to do for shipping and basically told you to kick rocks that's messed up. I don't know who seller is and really hope its not someone who is well known

I would be upset about the packaging as well. Typically when I ship a motor, I have around $30 in packaging materials alone, plus shipping cost. I use a heavier tote, and multiple cheap pillows from walmart. On top of that, I also throw a lot of packaging paper in there as well. The only other/better option is to use a foam gun or spray foam but that stuff gets pretty pricey. I haven't had any issues with the pillow route.

How pissed I would be would depend on how good of a deal it was. If it was a great deal, I would pressure test the motor and be done with it if alll checked out. It looks like you got a lot of parts with it. If I paid top dollar, I would be more upset.

Deals like this really put the seller in a bind and can cause some issues. However, its their fault for not packaging the product better. Have you considered a partial refund? Most sellers will jump on that option in order to prevent taking an item back. Just a thought. Best of luck.

Yeah, my PayPal dispute right now is for $125 only. No response yet.
