Has anyone used Greyhound for shipping a hull? Greyhound will accept a package that weighs less than 100lbs and can accommodate dimensions up to 30” H x 47” W x 82” L. Most hulls fit both these categories. Googling around it seems the Kayak community uses Greyhound quite a bit. I would think a jetski hull could survive if you made a mummy out of it by wrapping in a few layer of bubble wrap, covered with cardboard, and held that down with saran wrap; and was given handles for a way to easily transport from buss to buss.
Pros:
Coast to coast for approx. $100
Cons:
They will not insure anything more than $300
And the hull would move from buss to buss probably being treated like a suitcase. Ex. CA to NC is 5 buss changes
I would think this would work very, it all hinges on how the buss loaders would treat a 100lbs package. I sure they would not be thrilled to see it. Has anyone looked into this before? Suggestions for best way to protect the hull? Was it worth saving $400 / 75% off the cost of freight?
