that looks great man.

where did you spray it?

in the garage?

booth outside or what?

I wet the garage floor down, covered the other two skis and went to work.

EVERYTHING is covered with a light mist of overspray. :sneaky:

Brap Brap!

Awesome buildup! Thanks for all the information. Out of curiosity... what kind of paint setup are you using and did you do anything special when painting to keep the dust and all out?

Small air compressor from Costco with a conventional gravity-feed gun. I had a large volume fan blowing out one of my garage windows but I did get some tiny bugs in the clearcoat.

just a suggestion.............. if your gonna use an exhaust fan of any sort u have to filter the incoming air in some way......... an exhaust fan can actually cause your paint (in that type on an enviornment......ie// open air spraying) to turn out worse........ whatever your exhausting has to be replaced and u actually will pull more airborne defects (dirt, dust, pollen, leaves, BUGS...... etc etc) into your paint enviornment............. I had a body in high school whose father used to spray alot in his detached garage/shed............. he had the doors and windows setup so u could remove them and just pop in high flow hot air furnace filters............ then hed turn on the two exhaust fans he had in the ceiling........ was it perfect ........ hell no........ but i never saw anthing he painted get dust, bugs, or the like in it............ oh and no he didnt really care about the enviornment.............. or the overspray he threw on everything in the neighborhood lol

The UMI* steering was rusted out and the bearing had long since seized which made an awful sound when the bars were moved back and forth so the rebuild kit was ordered and the steering was rebuilt.

(*UMI is apparently pronounced "U-M-I" and not "yoomi". I called JetSkiSolutions to order the rebuild kit and got a very gentle ribbing for mispronouncing it.)

Since the weather has cooled down a little I continued on reassembling.

The waterbox and its mounting hardware were placed back in and the straps were restrapped. I attached the long exhaust tube and routed the lines accordingly.

The intermediate shaft housing was thoroughly greased, thoroughly attached to the ski, and thoroughly siliconed in place. The fancy-pants bilge bracket was attached as well.

On this ski, I decided to do away with the factory strainer/bilge system in favor of bilge only so I had to block off the strainer outlet as well as the unused second cooling line inlet fittings. I used a single tube which came out looking pretty sano.

I routed the steering cable through a clear plastic tube for coolness and protection and put the engine back in.

Because I took a little punishment from Mouthfull o flake about having to hoist the engine out of the ski last time instead of muscleing it out, I lifted the engine, carried it to the ski, and gently placed it inside. I thought I was going to crap myself doing it but I got it in there. (Because of Man-Code, since mouthful called me out, I had to come correct even though I was by myself in the garage.)

I had to steal the starter out of this ski and place it in my other SuperJet. My eBay starter arrived the other day and it was installed along with my exhaust. Here's a fun little anecdote: I consider myself rather intelligent and rather meticulous about my mechanical work. With those attributes in mind, I worked and worked to get the header and chamber connected via the coupler only to realize that . . . you guessed it . . . I forgot to put the clamps in there. :banghead:

After getting the clamps in there and tightened down, I went to work on ensuring the electricals were appropriately wired and routing my cooling lines correctly.

MAD MAD PROPS TO Freestyleriverrat and SuperJETT for the diagram that helped me tremendously.

My rebuild buddy was worthless as she spent her time napping in the ski next to me. Mrs Shonuff didn't appreciate Sophia smelling like 50:1 premix.
