Single Or Dual Carbs

The real question that I want to ask is...

How does my boat, running a single 48, hit harder than the other 5 mil strokers that I have ridden that had dual 46's and dual 48's? 99% of the people on here have denounced a single carb setup, but anyone that has ridden my boat since it was tuned properly stepped off stunned.

I'm with you Gil. Guys that ride my ski walk away scratching their heads.

I'm with you on that!! I've only run single carb on all my boats with stock electronics (enhanser included) and loved the performance. I am currently also running a single novi on a stock stroke billet lamey and it absolutly hits like a freight train:burnout:
The only time I will run duals is when I go to total loss ignition, then I know that all that fuel being dumped will get translate into usefull power.

I think it is funny that a lot of people think duals overfuel a motor. There aren't any parts of a 650sx that I want on my motor.

Stroke it, bore it, make it rev faster, increase the engines fuel demand. Then put a single on it lol

What are you defining when you state "on a motor that can use them?"

A motor with sufficient displacement and ability to use the extra air and fuel. For example, a big stroker vs a kawi 440. If singles were the ticket, all the freestyle boats at world finals would be using them. Ask around and see how many were. Not many. Maybe none. For the record, I believe a single can make great power. Just not all that's available.:fing02:

I competed in 2004 running a single setup, so did Stoyer. It is a great setup. Where it lacks is if you want to cruise up the lake, forget it, the powerband becomes really snappy. Also, you cannot run at higher speeds with it either. With Duals you have more versatility and options.

Do this test for me. Go ride it. I bet when you are almost at half throttle you are already WOT.

I was talking to Stoyer a couple of years ago at the World Finals and all year long before the WF he had been running a single. I asked him why he changed to duals before the World Finals and he said to get more power.

I like my dual Brapjack 44's myself! Not too big, not to small, just right IMO!

To each his own.

Sorry Harrison, but my boat is not that way at all. My ski is very cruisable!!! You get EXACTLY what you pull. No more, no less. It cruises better than the LPW 701 I have. It doesn't wander in the powerband, and it is not all or nothing. If you are at half throttle and pull more....you get more.

Fuel being dumped
That confuses me because if its jetted right you will not have fuel being dumped you will have the right amount of fuel

The single carb manifold that most people run is the 650 sx and it becomes the limiting factor
the manifold will not flow anymore and so it can not pull hard enough on the carb to allow the main jet to flow
This is why they dont like a long run
If you want a single carb to run on a 650 manifold at wot then put on a smaller carb so it can get signal to the main jet
other than that buy an atp manifold
I keep hearing about bottom end snap etc , tell me where do you need the most snap my guess would be at the world finials in the freestyle competition
tell me how many of those people had on single carbs

I think Single carbs are a great marketing ploy like reed stuffers

What are they a marketing ploy for??

A ploy to make people buy stuff

Do you remeber reed stuffers how many did they sell and they dont work in fact they do work if you want to slow down your boat

you remember single carbs they dont work well i guess they do if you want to slow down your boat
