i talked to a guy at school today who films surf videos. apparently he has a $4000 camera with a $300 water proof case. the second i mentioned filming for us he was psyched to do it. so hopefully next time im out there he will be with me. and the stock pile of video grows...

well i just took the time to download the newest quicktime. its really easy guys i highly recomend doing it.

I couldnt watch it but here's a couple hints .
Go out for a quick 5 minute ride first to make sure your cam is where you want it .You need to re-adjust your cam with every boat or rider that uses it .
If your cam has a little lens cover don't use it ,it only makes the cam fog more .try fog away or car wax on the lens to keep the fog away .
When your out there filming you have to think like your a camera man and just film .
you get the best footage either by hangin out on the backside of a wave or following someone around while they do tricks.
Try facing the cam backwards too for some cool footage .

Helmet cam is like a drug.. I've been using one for a year now... and you get use to be the cameraman and block your neck to get good images.

Which brand of helmetcam did you use ? As mine finally died in St Martin last week :banghead:

Never had any fog issue on mine... but I do get water on the lens after 30mn... looks like no product rainx or other can go over 30mn... Have you found a good solution for this ?

When 79 posts those vids, it really freggin makes me want to go. I can even see the rocks I sat on. Jamie, you have to make plans to go with us this year. Our plane tickets were only 232 round trip NW. Stayed right there also. AWESOME.

wow that price is awsome! did you take your skis out there with you? What time in October? I was planning on going to the jersey rager again this year. seriously though it sounds like a killer trip.

As far as I know, you have to download it bundled with itunes but you can uninstall itunes after their both installed.

jerry,what helcam you using,I have a protective cover with mine,I can give you some tips to get rid of fog permantly.

We have a ton of hel cam footage on wavejunkies.com, lotta big airs and good tricks, some rolls also, feww of pauls backys<VERY close up.

I have absolutely no idea. You'd have to ask MattSmith.....he bought the camera quite a while back, before I started riding with these guys actually.

...I can give you some tips to get rid of fog permantly.

Hit me with 'em. The fog is building up inside the camera housing. Matt said that any time he used it two days in a row, it would fog on the second day. It's a sealed unit, so it's just a tiny bit of moisture that's accumilating inside.

hmm well if that cam is foging inside the actuall cam housing with salt water,it will be very short lived. I bought a cam that was made to be water proff,not water ressistant like alot of the others,I thought you were talking about it foging inbetween a protective housing and the cam, mine did at first. check out helmetcamera.com and the protective cover that comeswith it,when the one you have craps out ,buy that system,it comes with a waterproff mic and lanc controll and waterproff hel cam and box for your main cam,under 600 bucks.worth every penny.

If moisture is forming on the inside of the lens it does not mean there is salt water inside. There is moisture in the air that is trapped in the camera that forms on the inside of the lens. Putting some spit or anti fog stuff on the lens, along with a desecant inside the housing should eliminate the problem.

mike the way these little song bullet cams are designed,there is no way to put anything inside of them,even if its not salt water getting inside,if its moisture or whatever,its short lived. you could try sealing the lens cap from the outside with some sort of sealant. it might be where the lens glass contacts the casing though.I beleive helcam.com uses a cobination of diffrent internal sealants and orings.I forgot what he told me about it,but it does work great,the actuall cam never fogs. the protective cover is a diffrent story. that takes some work to get right for above water filming especially in saltwater
