Super Jet So I just bought a 61x...

Now what should I know about swapping my superjet 6m6 for it? New engine includes stock intake setup but no flywheel/stator/starter/cover/bendix/exhaust. 6m6 setup is entirely stock.

Without a pipe the 701 will still be sluggish.
Swap everything over but try to open up that exhaust manifold to match the 61X ports. Just don't go nuts and cut too far in.

I dont know for sure but I think it should all swap over. The 650/701/760 all use the same crank and bottom end do they not? The exhaust might differ in size though.

I believe the only difference between 61x and 6m6, electronic wise, is the lower rev limiter on the 6m6 electrical box. You can run 6m6 electronics on a 61x, however you wouldnt be able to rev as high until you replaced the CDI

you can't mix 6m6 and 61x electronics you have to use all of one. The 6m6 rev limiter does not rev as high as the 61x. also the exhaust ports don't line up perfect so u will need to mess with the manifold or do what i did and just buy a used 61x manifold there cheap and that will work perfect with the rest of the exhaust. if u have any other ? pm i did the same swap

Since when ?
The only difference is the CDI rev limit but that can be eliminated.

i read three or four threads saying they were different on pwc today but looking at part numbers it looks like your right sorry about the bad information.

I was planning on adding a b-pipe sometime in the future when the wallet recovers, It wouldn't make sense to buy one now before I had the 701. Thanks for the info, I already knew the exhaust and electricals were compatible. I was asking more about the process, how do I switch over the electricals and how do I align the engine.

Easiest way is to remove the starter, flywheel and stator and bolt all those pieces plus ebox to the new motor.

well if it is that easy then why did I even ask? Is it advised to install new gaskets between the exhaust manifold/cylinders and flywheel cover?

If you want to have a reliable engine with components that last, spend the $25 or so on new OEM gaskets.

Always a good idea to use new gaskets and some fresh yamabond to seal everything up nice. Pretty much everything should be self explanatory on the bottom end cause all you need to do is take it off the 650 and put it on the 701. When your putting in the flywheel cover and bendix dont forget the small spring that goes in with the bendix! I made that mistake and my bendix wasnt very happy. The tech section has almost everything you need as far as motor building and rebuilding (i rebuilt mine last winter after my crank seized with no prior knowledge and it ran awesome when i was done)

Not really sure on the alignment part though, i would think it wouldnt change if its the same bottom end.
