so many a/m hulls to pick from! Help!

So I started as a couch guy and worked my way down to blaster. Then I bought a square nose and learned real fast the bar position is too far to the rear. I also own an x2 701 now and the bar position is too far forward(x2s are nose HEAVY)

My main riding area is a flat lake that only gets stirred up by boats. My second place is my favorite...the gulf.

My style is pretty amateur but wanting to learn more. I will attempt a backflip one day.

Carbon doesn't matter. I actually prefer fiberglass(so I can repair if need be)

Yamaha based is a must.

Can anyone offer an idea as to what may suite me? Rickter, Bob, eme, trinity, et al is just too much for my brain to handle. Ps...I'm not lookin for a dasa 1200 competition revolver...I'm more a aftermarket hull 701 b piped guy.

Thanks!

I just got my first stand up this year so I don't really have a recommendation, but to me the eme minis seem pretty interesting. Cheaply priced compared to some others, can put any engine in them, and the extensions on the back are removable. I'm glad you posted this though because there are tons of options out there and deciding would be very difficult.

Honestly you have to ride one to see what's best for you. Everyone has there own opinion, one persons might tell you to grab a eme and the next will tell you to grab a phantom. Most of them will flip with a 701 set up with a experienced rider. That being said my two favourite hulls are a superfreak badass and the phantom. But ride as many as you can then make your own mind up

^^^ x1000.

Gotta ride them and talk to builders. No way to tell u what ones best. It's easier to tell u who to avoid than what one's best for ur style. Come to as many free rides as possible. Best chance at riding multiple hulls.

^what they said...ride a bunch of different hulls and you will find the right one. Buying a expensive ski and big motor will not make you a better rider and flip easy either. A nice SJ with footholds will flip with a good rider. I have had 2 SJ's and now an aftermarket and I still can't flip or roll. It takes time...

I have come to the conclusion that Kawasaki made the best hull ever when they created the SXR800. It was a beast on the buoys in its day. So then comes freeride....now it is too heavy, right? So knock off 100lbs + and switch to Yamaha power/pump....WIN!!

So for me I don't think I will ever want/ride anything other than a SXR bottomed Yamaha powered stand up.

Shreds like a SXR.....launches like a AM SJ hull!!

I really don't know who makes a SXR bottom though....I have completely lost track of all of these new hull designs!

Good luck though. Take the knowledge from this thread you created and hit a freeride or 2 or 10 and ride some skis!

My two cents.....is ride a Tigercraft, SV1 or Aquabot v2 and I think you will have your decision made for you. I have ridden Superjet's both square/roundnose from bone stock to full mod, Bob's gen2, gen3, SXR's, WDk hulls (Rok, Rokr), Krash Footrocket's. All hulls are/were fun in their own "Category". I say category because small hulls like the rokr, bob's etc are flatwater and they do have some quirks, you won't be doing any full speed runs and chasing a boat is going to be very limited. I chose my aquabot after riding a tigercraft and again in my opinion it is hands down the best handling/riding hull I have ridden and owned and they are built to take a beating unlike others, but I am not going to bash here. Everyone has their favorites and even the bandwagon riders will tell you theirs is best, but based on my experience on these hulls compared to the ones listed above you will be very happy with one especially using the 701 platform. If you want the perfect surf hull, get a SV1, if you want a hull that will do excellent on flatwater AND surf then the aquabot is your ski. I saw a few responses about which hulls are SXR based bottom designs, Tigercraft is one of them.

Again, just my 2 cents and best thing to do is to ride a few different hulls and you will surely know what hulls feel right and which ones you know you don't like.

Thanks guys. I might petition people at Daytona. I just feel weird askin people to ride their ski. It's like asking to try out their girl. Haha.
If you BS with people they can see you know what your talking about they will most likely offer their ski to you before you can ask. Freerides are awesome like that.

I definitely need to make sure the motors are 701 or 760 and no more than a head, pipe and ignition. I won't be doin strokers or powervalves until I can ride the ski well. I see so many people with more motor than skill. Lol.

Thanks for the course of action gents.
