I heard about at least one person with a freak where the shaft was too long. Will I need a custom length drive shaft?
You might. Same issue with matrix and some other a/m hulls. It seems that they (a/m hull builders) have increased spline
overlap from stock and can lead to issues with solas pump. Our custom shaft is 5mm shorter so solas pump will fit in any application.

All of the shafts requested for solas or built here in solas pumps are custom length.
You don't need the big hub impeller but it's recommended and you'd get the most out of the pump that way.
Looks like the pump is $475 + $269 for the impeller (impros hooker).

I was wondering if I need to get a different driveshaft. I am goin to be putting this pump into a 92 square nose with a gp1200
They fit in oem hulls with the oem SJ driveshaft w/o issue.

These are the new all stainless steel 12 Vane lower cost 'MAG' pumps that many have been talking about, JM earlier review here:

These pumps replace your stock pump vane section. They are non-setback so they use your same stock driveshaft and will fit directly into your superjet -SN or RN including '08-'12, or Waveblaster.
You use the same wear ring and reduction nozzle from your oem pump.
These are big hub pumps so you do need a big hub impeller made by skat-trak, impros hooker, or solas.
