Honestly I bet the motor is just fine kinda stupid of you not to open it and see if there was any damage I don't blame the guy you bought it from but the company that handled it but you do you
It looks to me like the the bottom and the weight of the motor ripped the tape. I doubt any damage, bedplates and bottom case are pretty stout. I would have definitely opened it and checked it out. If there was damage I would have taken pics and gone from there. This is just my 2 cents.

Weather it’s fine or not, he inspected it or not, it’s a dick move on the sellers part to immediately ignore after there “might” be an issue. A simple convo can resolve things very easily... So many cowards these days that happily take your money and then disappear.
I have nothing to add about the seller or whether he was right or wrong in the transaction. I will add that I have shipped UPS and had them package it once before and had similar experiences with a lighter item.

So, this pristine motor is available again. Guy scammed me out of 389 dollars for shipping back a perfectly good UNDAMAGED motor despite what this guy assumed when it arrived to his address. I have done a full check of the motor and even tested compression again. I can provide pictures and proof of its condition being GOOD AND UNDAMAGED.
So, with that being said I learned a valuable lesson when dealing with people you dont personally know and trust. If you want to buy the motor and you need it shipped I will require TWO payments on PayPal. The first payment will be for the motor. That will be paid via goods and services. So, if there is an issue with the item itself and NOT shipping, a refund can be provided for the item. The second payment will be paid via friends and family. This payment is for shipping costs and will NOT be refundable. So you can't do what this guy did and return a perfectly good item based off a box that the bottom tape broke on and claim it is destroyed or damaged. You will not be able to "wipe your hands clean" of it and put it on me because you will have the price of shipping on your hands. So, if you have an issue with how it was shipped or how you recieved it you will be going after ups and I wont be held liable for your poor judgement. I will be able to accurately calculate these costs because I know the weight of the motor and the box size needed to ship it in since I've already gone through this once. If you would like to pay a little extra i can build a nice wood crate and provide pictures of this crate for your confirmation to put it in but this will be a part of the NON REFUNDABLE payment number 2.
I'd like to add I don't like being this particular because i naturally want to trust every single one of you to not screw me over, but this Stuart Ruzbacki has provided me with a very valuable life lesson of learning how to cover my own butt because there ARE in fact scumbags out there.
