Super Jet Spins and Sparks but doesn't Start

Any quick ideas here: My 06 SJ ran great last Sunday, rinsed it down, tried starting it to flush it, after running and spitting a few times it died out and wouldnt restart. Took a look and it was extremely low on gas. I filled it up and still can't get it to start. It has spark with two different sets of plugs, it turns over, and I even did a quick blast of starting fluid. It's not catching at all. The compression checks out around 155 in both cylinders. It seems to be getting fuel too. Any thoughts on what to check next? Any quick way to test fuel delivery?

Does it start using starting fluid? Water in gas, flywheel slipped causing timing to be off, or fuel filters could be clogged.

It does not start with the starting fluid, or appear to be lighting off at all. I'm going to grab some new plugs and dive into the ignition a bit more.

I'm not so confident about spark at this point. It wont start off the ether. I went back out and grabbed the plugs from my WB1 and the spark seemed weak to me (red not blue), and wasn't 100% consistent. I'm going to grab a couple sets of plugs today and dig in again soon.

Both cylinders read good and even compression, so I'm not overly concerned there.

I turned it over a ton with the plugs out and it isn't spitting any water.

Weak spark? Hmm is the ebox dry? Could try swapping the coil else I would look for a deteriorated power/ground cables not allowing much juice threw them.

Did you try draining the water fule separator? It could still be sucking water if is full

Yeah, I would make sure there isn't any water or milky stuff on the plugs.
If no water, I would guess coil. Just had mine do the same thing. Had weak spark when I looked at the plugs, but when I put them in and tried to start I got nothing. If you are riding saltwater my first guess would be coil wires. You might get lucky and be able to just trim them back and get a better connection. JSS does a good job of putting new wires on the coil. Jetmaniac stocks them too.

Things are looking up. Seems that I was chasing some water in the gas and bad plugs. I grabbed plugs at lunch Friday and tested em out this morning and everything is looking good!

If the plugs are old and its wont start, always try changing the plugs first before you tear into anything...2-strokes eat plugs.

Yah I grabbed plugs ASAP, it helps but still isn't right. It starts well with new plugs or removing plugs and wiping them dry, but then sputters out after ~30 seconds and won't restart. I'm going to siphon the gas out of the tank tonight, hoping that its as simple as water in the tank.

Make sure to also pull the carbs completely apart and blow through all the holes. Water can get trapped in them and just sit

When stuff gets to running randomly I've found it's time to leak down test the bottom end...PITA but might be your problem.

Looks like it was bad gas. Put the Startron to it midday Sunday. Got home from work last night and it started RIGHT up as good as ever. Did a few test starts, then ran it on th hose. Seems that everything is looking good. Heading out for work all week so hopefully it looks good Sunday for an AM ride!

I had a problem with water getting into the tank through the breather that sounds like your symptoms. My breather hose does not go up the handle pole because I have a RN pole on my SN. I drained about 12 oz of water out of my tank and the water separator was full. I now run my water separator with the valve open all the time so the water just drains out... No further water problems.
