last time I checked, my contract from Hydroturf says "Sponsorship", not "Discountship"... When you are sponsored (regardless of what level of support you have) you are required to run their products, promote their products.........
It is sponsorship........
Now Gil, I am calling you out. You had better compete.
so if i sold you a copy of the addiction for $18.00 instead of $20.00 you would say i was one of your sponsors...
BK, you are a smart man, i know you know the difference between what a piece of paper says and what it means...
gil, please do not misunderstand, i am glad you are getting recognition...i am glad when anyone does...and yeah, if it means you are gonna compete this year..awesome...we need more people competing and involved on that level...
my personal belief is that alot of "sponsorships" out there are not all that great for the rider...and im not saying hydroturf is a bad company or any such nonsense like that, hydroturf does a ton for the sport!
its like this...
say you get a "sponsorship"...you get a 15% percent discount from company x for their little widget that makes your ski super duper fast...awesome...you run company x's stickers on your boat, you wear their clothes, you promote them...for a 15% dicount...so company x still makes a profit off of any products they sell to you but then they also get the added marketing benefit as well...
when you stop and look at all of the intangibles involved you are actually paying company x for them to "sponsor" you...
i know i hold the minority opinion on this issue, thats fine...i don't want to make it any worse than i already have...
Gil...once again, congratulations...hope to see you out there this year placing higher than BK at every event:biggrin:...
i just think it should be different...
it could be different...
