hard to tell if that red is grease or rust but just by looking at those pictures it looks fine to me. You really should yank the flywheel and check the action on the bendix though if you are nervous about it. You've already got it disassembled far enough. The flywheel is only one step further.

No that means your battery is bad/weak or you have high resistance/bad cables.

Or what a few people have suggested already, bad grounds. If you dot have a good ground you have poor or no current flow. That will make you think components are bad.

well my battery/starter connections are freshly sanded the connects on the solenoid look clean as can be anywhere else for a bad ground to cause this? I bought a wet jet earlier this week so tomorrow I can do some swaping to eliminate things what order would you suggest I start with part swaps?

Try to swap the starter first and see what happens.

Your sure you have a fresh and fully charged battery?

I know you said its charged but was it load tested? Sometimes they will read good but drop voltage under a load.

no im not positive took it to the battery store the guy put a hand held device on the terminals and told me it is fully charged and good. im starting not to believe that maybe I should stick this battery is the wet jet and see what happens?

Get a nice digital Multimeter that can measure volts, Ohms, etc... Ohm the :):):):) out of everything. You have no idea how usefull having an Ohm meter is. It'll tell you if you have a weak ground instantly.

something can test out fine with ohm test, but still fail under load. Voltage drop test will tell you in an instant.

well I think it was just the solenoid I saepped the ebox from the wetjet in several configurations and it fires up real easy im thinkin it was the solenoid all along but I bought tw0 new battires today + full ebox swap cause the wet jet was a lot nicer

well not really fixed had to get towed today anybody have any ideas on what to check now? it has a new s/s switch new battery different solenoid I feel like ive been over every connection twice????

it was doing absolutely nothing couldn't even hear a click battery is all good was running the bilge while stranded when I got home it fired up right away stoped and restarted 3 times in a row. before I left for the lake this am first time I hit the button I got nothing I think it fired on the 3rd try so I knew I had probs before I left killed it afew times while I was out and it took lots o button pushes to restart but the last time I may have sat dead in the water for an hour before I took a tow
