To be honest there is nothing like an "almost" new ski :). Add 1K and that ski will rip all day long. Plus if you want to sell it later you will get more interest since it is newer model year. Just my 02

I agree the 08 is the better ski and deal. My only concern is how does a stock 08 SJ perform? Am I going to think it is a total dog compared to an sxi or modded 750sx? The mods will come on the SJ but would I need to put them on immediately or is a stock 08 enjoyable for a while?

When I took delivery on my 2008, it was considerably faster than my brothers low hour 800 SXR (stock). I if it is well taken care of, I bet you'll be impressed with the performance in stock form, I was. Add a pipe, head, then porting; $1500 later and your golden.

In my opinion no matter what tubbies you add to a pre-08 hull youl never get the handling of a 2008+ hull. The pump was moved back in addition to the change in the hull.

Although the 05 has some pretty sweet mods on it. I think the price will be an issue as well. My gut tells me there will be a $1500 or price difference between the 05 and the 08 with the 05 costing more.....

I am selling my 2005 Yamaha Superjet. The ski has Wamilton's Step 1-3 kits, cyclone footholds, and a freestyle factory b pipe installed by me last summer. Carbs are tuned by a local jet ski mechanic and I installed dual cooling. I used the ski 5 times last summer and 10 times the summer before. I am the original owner and bought it in 2008 brand new (leftover from 2005). Was used only in salt water....BUT....no rusting or corrosion and I flush the ski out after every use, spray t9...etc. When not used it sits in my garage on a stand ready for show. The ski is beautiful. See for yourself. $7,000.00

Step 1:

- WX-1Wamiltons Intake Grate ( Freestyle )
- Skat-Trak 12/17
- Wamiltons Ride Plate
- Wamiltons Stubbie Cone

Step 2:

- ADA Head Kit w/ 35 cc domes
- MSD Enhancer
- Bilge Pump

Step 3:

- V-FORCE Reeds
- Wamiltons Flame Arrestor Air Filter w/ Adaptor
- U.M.I Steering system, w/ shortened Turn Plate and 0º Handle bar
-Factory B Pipe

You dont even have to ask to know what my answer is.....

09 new for $6300. I can't see spending that much on a stock ski. The search continues. There is a really nice well modded 750sxi for "only" $2000. Is a SJ worth more than double cost in the fun factor dept?

I wouldn't buy new if I were you. If you know what to look for, you can get a used ski that would be just as reliable as a new one. Also, aftermarket parts add up like crazy, and if you are going to mod your superjet, you might as well buy one that someone else already sank a ton of money into, and make it your own. I would look for a newer superjet with at least a B pipe

Man, I gotta get a SJ if it is that much better than what I am use to. As a weekend warrior I try to be budget minded and think about how much more fun would I be having on a 5K ski rather than my 92 modded sxi. I love my ski and think it is all I need but I do think adding a SJ would be a nice addition. Often I am riding my 750sx and am grinning from ear to ear wondering what more do I need. Guess I gotta try a SJ and find out!

the 08' will run nice, Yamaha increased compresion on them a little and they have a REAL NICE prop that will take alot of mods before being replaced. IMO it aint worth a shiot for freestyle but its a nice carver and river ski. With a $650 B-pipe and a $200 msd enhance and a milled OEM head to get you to around 185 compression $100 and an intake grate $200 or so then maybe a $60 lightened flywheel you can get an really nice running ski that will be a blast to ride.

A stock 08' SJ beats ANY Kawi 750 regardless of mods. and is better IMO than the big pig SXR as well.
