Stock 66e vs mod 760 (opinions wanted)

I’m very interested in the 66e motor but I want to know if they’re worth running as a stock set up (better than a mod 760). What bolt on mods are there for it? I’ve got some ideas for the conversion that won’t include waterdawg so I don’t want that to be part of the debate.

The FX-1 has a bone stock 66e, the only mods are a Riva head with 33cc domes (and WDK exhaust and intake manifolds) and I would have to say it flat out kicks the poop out of a 760. Tons of bottom end, I say go for it

Carbs???? Did you not have to run a different set up there? From what I understand the OEM (I) carbs load up really easy.

What are your Ideas for the exhaust that do not include WaterDawg? Just curious as I am debating this set up myself. Should be quite simple for me as the mount holes are already in my REV hull and the REV hull is wider too.

I dont have the 760 but I have the 66e in my b-1, I plan to up the compression to around 150-160 max this winter and I plan on staying with the stock exhaust like i have in it now , the stock exhaust is capable of handleing around 927 cc before becoming a hinderance to performance of the 66e engine , but I can reccomend the 66e for power since i have personally experienced it in my b-1 , also IMO the WD intakes would be sweet to get the carbs farther off of the hull for that reason only/ If you can order them far in advance and can withstand the wait . But im sure you can achive this intake issue many other ways without the WD intakes. another nice thing i have been reading is to get the 1300 cc topend from another yammie and just bolt it on the 66e and keeping one jug set for a spare ! that is suposed to be a pretty sweet bolton with big benefits of a little more agressive porting ! FWIW if anything ! Geterdone: I wanna see /ride it !

maybe this will help a 760 is just 701 with bigger pistons and crappier port timing

a 66e is a 701 with 10mil stroker and powervalves

there is very big difference in the torque

the intake and chamber I think we (I have handy friends) can fab up. the exhaust manifold I"m hoping to use something that already exists. otherwise we fab that too.
