suggestions on impellers for 550sx please

i have another newbie question.

i have a '90 550sx that's stock except for intake grate. ive been told that putting on an aftermarket impeller would make a big difference.

i know there are different pitch levels, but i don't know the advantages and disadvantages of different pitch levels or in general how the pitch levels work. can you all give me a "pitch levels for dummies" explaination? i'm more concerned with out the hole speed (i think that's bottom end) and wake jumping (at safe distances of course) then i am with top speed (it think that's top end). which pitch levels would work best for me and my 550sx?

also, please tell me who the best impeller manufactures are?

almost anything is going to help compared to the stock one you have. I think I have one to sell. I think its a straight 15 but I will have to check.

15 straight pitch is you are running mostly stock, if you have a pipe, head etc then a 15.5 straight pitch Skat........

i'm going to also add a new pipe and air filter along with the impeller before i put it back in the water. then i'll ride it and see how i like it and then look to add more things.

how does the pitch (and the level of the pitch) effect performance?

it is like gearing.

15 degree for stock
15.5 for mild hop ups (pipe, head, jetting)
16 + degree for major mods.

It does several things, 1. Hookup is generally better, 2. Depending on what you want, you can make it overall better, or you can focus on more bottom end hookup or top end speed, but you will tend to sacrifice one for the other.

I found the 15.5 worked best.
