Beware of husky, they've been bought out a few times. I think BMW owns them now. Still good quality. Hard to get parts since BMW doesn't care about dirt based bikes. Took 6 months for me to get a cylinder for a husky dirt bike last year. Again, still good bikes. Just something to consider

beware of husky? lol you must own a suzuki.
you get what you pay for.. although some japanese bike may outlast some euro bikes. there totally different animals IMO. a 610 will run forever. but the 450/510 huskys take a bit more maintenance compared to some jap bikes. even though my 450 has 8k on it and still rips.

lets put it this way
euro supermoto=superfreak/dasa 1000
drz400=squarenose/650.

and im not kidding. drz's are gutless but bombproof. it all depends on what you want out of a bike.

heres my 06
and a 05 husaberg 650 to the left of it(scary fast lol)

No, no suzukis. I said beware because of parts quantity and availability, Richard. I've ridden them, worked on them, and enjoyed them. But way to prove yourself to be a tool, again.

Huskys are BAD ASS! I agree, parts can be a bit of a bitch and the layout of everything is a little weird to work on compared to like honda and suzuki, but they are awesome bikes. My friend has an 06 Husky 610 Supermoto and damn does that thing rip.

and yes yamaslut, drz's suck when theyre stock. too heavy and too restricted. Once you mod them theyre really nice intermediate bikes tho. If you go the drz route, best bet is to find one semi-done-up already.

I found this 98 husky 610. I know its a little old but he claims the motors been completely gone through 200 miles ago. It needs some work like tires are getting dry rot and suspension is shot. I figured it would be a perfect contestant for a SM. I plan on just relacing the stock hubs with 17"s and get suspension and the lights. Id like to update the plastics and subframe eventually. He wants $800obo and Its hard to find something street legal for a decent price in cali.

052.jpgHere is the description.
2006 DRZ 400 SM with 3939 miles. (Difficulty uploading pics. Contact me at 352-586-5719 I will e-mail pics to you) $4100.00 obo. Original owner. Meticulously taken care of. This bike looks and feels like new. No scratches dings or faded paint. Never been off road, ridden hard or in the rain. All original plastics. Never crashed or dropped. Mods include full Yoshi exhaust with matching Yoshi cam, K&N filter, mild cylinder head work - cleaned up & flowed intake and exhaust ports, re-seated valves, new steam seals and head gasket, re-shimmed head to factory clearances. Re-jetted carb. New battery and rear tire. All work done professionally at a well known shop (not a dealer) in Gainesville Florida.

Showroom condition. Ridden by a 57 year old and was very meticulous. Had to go buy some soft straps becuase he went on a "theres not a mark on it" story.

Hope to have it by noon tomorrow. I hope its a little slow, Its my first bike since I was 19 and I am 42 now.

so that makes another since i've been out of the stealerships. lol wouldnt surprise me if they were pawned off again. i cant figure out if its the company running itself dry or what. the products always seemed topnotch. it makes sense that ktm bought them out. both ktm and husky always "sub" parts out. to marchesini, brembo, renthal, and a few other parts MFG's.

Sounds like a nice bike, well taken care of. I just dont like how it still has just a rejetted stock carb after all the other work done :(
Try to get the price down a bit and slap a 39mm keihin FCR on it.

* EDIT * actually just read how many miles on it, that is a nice find

Thats what I have read. But the main reason is it is bullet proof and mods are cheap. I dont need and cant afford two hobbies.

exactly why mine is sitting in a corner collecting dust. No one to ride with, and if i put money into it thats less i can put into my ski.

Dr Z is a badmutha!

bought an 03 a couple of years ago with 800 miles on it and it was the best damn bike ever..yes its heavy, its not slow....its just not KTM 450 fast

its bulletproof, has a great light system on it and would be my choice any day of the week if you like to road ride

it still feels small and flickable, just a little heavier to pickup when you dump it on the trail

think I paid 2800 for it, and sold it for 3200 with MANY more scratches than when I got it..

Dr Z FTW!

That's a pretty clean DRZ. The Yellow ones usually go for less $$ than that, but it does have some nice engine/exhaust upgrades. The only things I would change would be the footpegs and those mirrors. In any case, you are almost guaranteed to have a good time with it.

Just got back home with the bike. It is showroom condition. It has 3935 miles with the second oil change after the break in and has the first coolant flush done. He said it was time again.
Not a scratch anywhere. He used to wipe it down with cloth baby diapers to keep from leaving micro scratches haha.

Hope to make the first ride in the am. Hope I dont drop it!
