so...

any advice on how to "properly" install the hood mounting hardware?

i screwed around with it last night for a bit, but because you can't see the hook hooks under neath the hood "wings", it makes it damn near impossible.

any ideas welcomed.

this is my second 'freak. first time i around, i installed them towards the center where things were visible. wanted to get away from this this time around if possible.

Roo,
Small tip for ya.Use double sided tape on the hood hooks,so you are able to move them around till you find the sweet spot. That came from Carl at cold fusion.

Doing my pads today on my freak! Maybe turf tomorrow.l am so excited to get this ride in the water.Maybe by next weekend.

mount the hull side hooks. as far towards the hood as possible(close to the edge of the hood seal channel as possible maybe even a mm or two out.)
and buy one of thoose drills that you can mill with and make your hole longer when you mess up. my holes ended up to be around 12mm long haha. measure once cut twice re glue paint and measure twice and get er done right.

look at matt_es build thread

i used double sided tape. i got mine where they are perfect. but i took a lot of time.

Mine are aligned great, after some work. I can get the hood on/off in just a couple of seconds and it clamps down good.
As stated, make sure the hull side hooks are mounted as far towards the hood as possible. Measure to where the front of the hood side hooks will engage the hull side hooks 100% forward. The left/right should be easy to do.
Play a little bit with the up/down on the hood side hooks. If you want, I can give you measurements & pics of mine.

lf you would be so kind as to take some pics and measurements of the both parts including the hood piece and the piece mounted to the hull,l would appreciate that Matt!

Be sure to grind down the points on the hull side hooks a bit. I didn't and it took me 15 minutes to get the hood back off.

My home away from home.
If it has a maniac strap, it should be pretty solid when ratcheted down. Also take a look at the positioning of the hood when in the hooks. Mine seals best when all the way forward, but all (hoods) may be a tad different. I can move mine forward and back a bit before tightening it down with the strap, but forward works best on mine. Telling you guys .... This SHOULD be a no jack around system that takes 5 min to install. We tested it with just a hood strap and the rear sealed great the front not so much. Even with front hooks , there is no way they can put an even force on the seal all the way around the hood . The hull side hooks would be to low for the hood wings to clear the hull. We used a new stock seal for our mock up. With that said , the cold fusion seal looks like a better seal option in the first place . Will it work or is it needed with the CF seal..... Might make it better might not. That's the problem with ski stuff , one size does not fit all .

Stay tuned , we are also working on a new buggy whip design for those of you that want the most proformance from your horseless carriage .

Hope to have them finished by the weekend .... My friend had some trouble with some turbine blades that were out of tollarance ......he was not in the mood yesterday and had 55,000 reasons to be upset .

Sportfish has a real cool design to lock down the front of the hood from the sounds of it , can't wait to check it out and try one !

No. I ran the watcon last few years and works well. U just need to get the hood settled down on it and clamp it down with some brap straps for a day or two to get a groove in it. I cut mine to make the groove and it's worked perfect. I'm trying the CF one this year though. We'll see how it turns out.
