Looking at the ski yesterday morning,l decided since l have to wait on fairing that l needed to reinforce the edges of the holds where l extended the tops.As well as going around the footholds.Using 2" and 3" carbon tape. The front of the holds where they meet the tray got extra, cause I ground it down till there was no glass left.
Also installed the new inserts that @Nate_D gave me a year ago. Thanks! Gflex to the hull, coming back with thickened epoxy over them and they get a cap when done.Cool little tricks!
Closed up a number of holes all over the top deck from having enough epoxy left over, bilge, old handle pole breather holes, and the toe loop holes.
Basically done on the deck now and ready to flip her over on the backside :p. The bottom I'll be filling in divots all over and then repairing the pump tunnel shoe area.l bought a new 148 mm shoe that will be installed instead of the 144mm.Should be ready for prep and paint after done there.
Just waiting on the order from us Composite's to come in so l can finish the gunwales

As an afterthought you could have just used black pad to straighten the gun whales. Hindsight from a recliner is always a great perspective, though
“What you ort do is......” I see sano is up to his old tricks ... gone 4 years and you guys are still at it !

Had the day off today which l used part of to finish the gunwales.I spotted a router attachment for a Dremel in Lowes today for $11,so l bought it.l used this to make a new lip for the turf where it will flush up to the hull.Started by taking a straight edge and taping it down where l wanted the new line to be.Took the Dremel and attachment and cut a line into the fiberglass.Laid several layers of masking tape right above the line l just cut.Mixed up some faring to build up the sides. Then pulled the tape to make a decently clean line. Also finished the inserts with epoxy over the gflex and the caps that go over them.
It's 5:30 and time to go get a beer with my son.Chits got to dry anyway!

l like using gflex on some items like inserts because it will dry semi hard and stays a bit flexible. You can also cross bond different things like metal and/or carbon, glass. Also sets up overnite which is a plus.

Are you getting the pre thickened gflex? I think I may grab some.

The profile of the gunwales is what l was going after.Nowjust need some time this weekend to sand down and finish.I'll be flipping her over to work on the pump tunnel next and will be installing a 148 pump shoe.Tried a 155 but just to much to reconstruct in order to make it all work.I want to ride this summer, not work on a ski!

So this is the shoe l received from Blowsion (not directly) and this is the poor azz quality we all have to work with on aftermarket parts!? Granted it may be hard to line up to cut,but this piece of junk should have been thrown in the trash! So thin on one side that it cracked

Is that the RRP flavor or JD flavor? That is a crapper for sure, will they warranty it?

I really like how it looks with the squared gunwales, I cant wait to see it finished.

Been a minute since l updated the build.
Had to put it on the back burner cause it's just starting gardening season here in the the south. We mostly have raised beds but my son cut in a new section in the ground (roughly) 20'X 15' for more veggies.Plus we bought 7 cubic feet of compost that we have been filling up our boxes and adding to the new area.Still planting for the next few weeks.Got tomatoes, onions, leaf lettuce, kale, spinach, carrots and radishes already going. And bro,we are totally organic.

I must say, seen a number of cool new builds going on this year! Glad to see guys trying out new ideas on skis!

So last weekend l finished up a few areas on the ski and took it to one of the body's shops l work with on a weekly basis.Handlepole and sponsons went to one shop and the hull, hood, and pole bracket cover to another.Hood and cover are painted with just a couple of dust nibs. But looks good and loving the color. And no it ain't purple this time. Here is the bottom all primered up with just a couple flaws to be fixed.Bottom will be black.
