only one guy said that to me and he perferred a rickter of all the ski's i believe, think he rode a white blaster. like everything, nothing fits everyone. i personally heard a few big names say they liked the full carbon ski a lot. i'm hoping when a few of the well known guys get on they'll shed some light on things. pretty much all day sunday i was with the demo's helping them in and out of the water.
That was me, however that was on Saturday when I had only ridden the red ski that had a bit too much rocker for me. That being said there was absolutely nothing wrong with it, and it was a solid ski, it just didn't fit my riding. I found the Rickter to be much more predictable than the red ski in the surf and it fit me better having a longer pole and different setup, nothing that couldn't be changed on the red ski. Also, the red ski, with so much rocker tended to turn around the center of the boat, where as I prefer to lean the ski over. Most of my riding is boat chasing, and I couldn't keep the red ski planted, I initially attributed this to the weight but after Sunday I changed my mind.
Sunday I rode the black Superfreak that was full length and was very impressed! I think that will probably end up being the boat for me in the future. The weight was the same, but I was able to keep the ass end of the ski planted and maintain speed, even in the chop. My type of riding isn't typical, I want the best of all worlds, a ski that is light, tracks well, and can be ridden at high speeds for extended periods of time. I found the longer hull allowed me to lean the ski over a bit more and it had more of the handling characteristics that I look for, and I was impressed at how different Tem was able to make two similar skis with a few hull changes, really a testament to him knowing what he is doing.
Thanks to all of the guys that helped me out and let me demo this weekend. Also to Tem and his wife who have to be two of the nicest people I have ever met.
