Finally decided to start on the turf that I've been putting off, I picked up some template material from the fabric store to help with the process. Also picked up a billet start stop housing and a new MSD.

Pellon Easy Pattern and Template material from JoAnn Fabrics. Just find the rack with all of the intermediate fabrics and pick one you like out of the craft ones.

Don't worry it's pissing me off as well, especially turfing!

Almost done. After some zip ties on the wiring and a little more turfing I'll be ready to water test (hopefully tomorrow night) and then I should just need to finish the front foothold, fire extinguisher holder and limiting rope.

Hi Mike, build is amazing.
Do you have dimensions and instructions for how you did the rocker and and shortening at the back?

wish there was a guy like you here in South Africa that could do something like this! but alas, going to give it a go myself and was hoping there was something to go with the pics.

if you have anything please pm me gareth@justflour.co.za

thanks in advance

Look back in my original build thread I think I posted some of the dimensions there. For the back I believe it was -5.5" tapering up 1" and out 2" and -3" from the front of the top deck. Something like that.

Finally got it in the water yesterday, what a long wait! I managed to run 2 tanks through it and get it pretty dialed in, I've just got to sort out a couple details.

Overall the hull rides great, it feels like it will be perfect for chasing boats and riding small surf. It rides more nose high than a stock superjet or fx1 for sure, but not as bad as some of the shorter aftermarket hulls I've ridden before. When I was first getting up it was a bit of a challenge to get my weight over the nose but once it plains out it rides stable. I was able to do some quick high speed pulls towards the end of the second tank and was surprised that it hooked up and stayed planted to the water as much as it did. If its choppy and your not throwing your weight just right then it will start to porpoise at higher speeds, but I'm going to try getting the steering nozzle pointed down a bit to help balance it out as right now its tipped up a few degrees at rest.

I noticed that it recovers from landings very well, coming down on the tail it bounces right back out of the water and the nose tends to want to pull down. Also having the extra room in the tray definitely helps a lot, I'm thinking about adding a strap at the rear and some padding or another layer of turf around the edge of the footholds to make things a little more comfy. Thats my quick ride report for now, hopefully I'll have more to share this weekend.
