Superjet handleing, Alittle disapointed....

Hey guys, im new to this site, and im looking for a few answers to a couple questions about my ski. I just bought a 01 superjet 701. I stepped up from my 89 kawi 650sx. I rode the sj for the first time yesterday and i must say i'm alittle dissapointed. The ski ran great, lots of power, and speed? Oh yeah!! But when i get up near full throttle (clocked at 52-55 with my buddys gp) the sj will almost throw me off. It wants to flip over sideways, and is very unstable. Its nearly uncontrolable and i have to let off the gas to slow it down. I let a buddy ride it to see if it was just me. It did the same to him. My question is this normal on the sj? My 650 never did this. Do i need sponsons? Front, rear? Or is it the nature of the beast? The steering also seems to have a long throw. Im going to get a quik steer plate for it. Any input would be great. I also need to buy new hydro turf. I cant keep my feet on the platform. Thanks and sorry for the long post.

You will get used to it. The unstable feeling will go away as you ride more and more. I hated my superjet at first, but after a few rides, I fell in love with it.
Just keep on riding it and don't worry about sponsons and all that stuff.

Same. I went from a kawi 550 to a rn sj in 2003. The sj felt very squirrely at first. Now, I'd ride nothing else.

Ok, well i was alittle nervous after riding it. I heard alot of good things about the sj thats why i decided to try her out. Im goanna keep riding it and get used to it. I cant wait. The kawis are nice but it was time to try something new. Thanks guys.

the 650sx is very stable. my riding buddy, swooperjet, hated my superjet. he finally made the switch to a superjet and within 15 minutes he said he no longer missed his 650sx.

kawi's where made more for racing.

superjet is more for freestyle.

Agreed... My buddy owns a 650sx and I can ride that for 20-30 minutes and never once fall off. Any standup ski that is designed for freestyle will not track very well at high speeds. Both my 750 and SJ feel squirrelly above 30mph.

Oh ok, thats good to know. I was hoping i wouldnt regret selling my sx, although it was a great machine. I was also thinking of upgrading the pipe. Are they worth the money for the sj? Looking to wake it up alittle out of the hole.

Um... Superjets where made for racing too...

Thats why they wooped on the Kawis for so long at the race track when they came out...
It just happens that they make a great freestyle/freeride machine too.

It already has the scat swirl impellor, and a top loader intake grate. I think it might need alittle more power now.
I recently put a B-pipe in my wifes sj. I could'nt believe the improvement in throttle response & bottom end. (tuned for surf). It pisses me off cause I have stock exhaust in my sj still. Saving up.

I've had no experience with the fx-1 chamber, but someone on the X does!
Between the x community, anything can be found out. You guys know it all!
Im just looking over my fx-1 trying to get a few parts cleaned up/replaced and that factory exhaust just looks so puny compared to the pics i see around here.

SJ's at high speeds are controlled more with handlebar input than Kawasakis which respond more to body position. Steer it to keep it under you instead of moving your body around so much.

Is your steeriing set up right? If its a little off to the right or the left you will notice that at WOT.
