Personally I would bump up the compression. I would run 35cc domes which produces 185 psi and you could still keep it reliable. You'll just have to make sure the jetting is spot on, that you are running 93 octane fuel, and that you limit WOT runs.
Bumped up compression definitely makes a ski more snappier. The MSD Enhancer will also provide some more snap. I know a lot of people dont believe in MSD Enhancer and I was skeptical at first, but I ended up purchasing one and my thoughts on it can be read in post number 4 of the following thread:

By the way a girdled head is one of the best things you can do to help the reliability of the ski because it will protect the cylinder from cracking. So in the end I would say that neither of these mods will hurt the reliability of the ski and in some respect actually help reliability.
