i looked through it briefly and i didnt see any specific regulations listed...

Okay, I looked at relevant sections. The only two things remotely applicable would be negligent operation (and surf riding is not covered in any way there) and USCG regulated boating areas. Turns out the latter applies only to West Coast river bars - giving the USCG the authority to close bars and passages into the open ocean.
That's it.
Perhaps there are more state regulations such as what California has, but Oregon and Washington don't seem to have them.

In any event, this legality thing is a huge derail to the real issue: Don't be a dickhead with the surfers or anyone else on the water.
Nobody I ride with will put their ski in the water where surfers are even visible. It's that simple.
Surfers don't have motors and have to paddle into waves. It's a lot easier for me to pick and choose a wave or wave section. The spots we ride at are not desirable to surfers. We don't ride where surfers are.

surfers can get along with no one. they battle the fishermen at the piers and surf right up to the pier despite signs prohibiting water activity within 100'

they battle swimmers, kiteboarders, spongers, kayakers and even each other.

i have had them cuss me out in the jet ski zone beacuse they were doing a drift session and didnt want to paddle in.

i agree we need to have courtesy and be reasonable about where we ride but surfers are for the most part an unreasonable bunch.

#1 who is LE?

secondly the ocean is federal waters...just because your local law enforcment agent dosnt know the rules dosnt make them non existent. Ive also seen a friend stopped and nearly ticketed for riding within 200ft of the shore..

go ride your ski in the surf within 200ft of the shore in front of the coast guard and see what happens

We ride within the 200ft from shore with the coast guard watching all the time. The coast guard station is at BL inlet where we ride. Most guard boats wave to us. Even helped guide us in when fog rolled in real bad.
As for riding with surfers we usually ride off sand bar near jetty so it's tough for surfers to get to. I only remember 1 time where someone had a yelling match. We usually have to deal with d-bag couchers thou, and that has to be worst than surfers

who really cares what is "legal"
Factory pipe on all their instructions say only legal for racing per EPA regulations
so putting one on a freestyle boat is "illegal"
who cares? no one!

Your still missing my point..I could care less if it's legal or not..I'd ride either way..my point is that regardless of weather u can be in the surf or not legally u have to yield to non motorized water users...so even if u were riding first if someone else wants to surf/swim/scuba dive whatever u should move down the beach..if u actually cared about the place u ride it wouldn't be a problem because it's stupid to cause problems that can get u shut down..anybody with any authority on the matter isn't going to side with a jetskier garanteed

the Coast Guard could give two craps about anyone on a jetski... Every time I launch from the boat ramp closest to my house I ride past their station. Never had a moments notice from them (they are always on the water). Matter of fact, after coming in late (after dusk) riding by myself one night (no lights of course) I pulled up next to 100+ foot cutter/patrol boat at the ramp and they just "smiled and waved...".

I think the CG has other things on their mind than 7' jetskis.

No I'd dump 5 gallons of premix on your ski and light It on fire..

Doesn't regular unleaded burn better than premix? I don't think the extra oil burns any faster lol

yea right the only thing shaking are the 12" wheels on my toyota minitruck when im doing 90mph!!
you CA guys and your wire wheels....

What's a minitruck? You better not be one of those idiots with a giant lift kit. It's hilarious how people put lift kits, they do know that lift kits only degrade almost all your performance, and they only help in ONE area -- driving through a lot of water! Then they say that they go off roading with their lifted trucks, or say they do, problem is, a lifted trucks CG is too high to do any serious off roading, and it doesn't increase ground clearance.

PLEASE tell me your not one of those people.

And why would you go 90mph in a truck, or WANT to have 12" wheels?!
