So before I post pics, I want to explain a few things.
I'm no Stablaz08 or whatever his name is. That dude paints poop for a living, and i'm super envious of his ability. I don't know the guy, never met him. He comes off as a dik on here sometimes but I imagine we'd get along in person. But we hang with the same group of people outside of skis so while this no where near a copy of his paintjob, the paint he did on his Rok-r inspired me a little.
Also, need to tell ya'll that i have some serious A.D.D.
So to some degree, there was no plan. I'd look at some paint and say 'hey, this might look cool....' And in the process i'd add a day to the paint process. I love it.
I painted the graphics on my ski the following materials:
- rattle cans
- cheap air brush and model paint
- pinstriped with a pinstriping brush and paint
Nothing remotely professional about my techniques or facility. I come up with ideas for a mask or an effect and try it out on my ski. Sometimes it works, sometimes it looks like donkey doo. The key for me is lots of clear and wet sanding and polishing when its all finished.
This paint job has been evolving over the past... month maybe? Looking at the timeline on my photobucket, I would say I started on this before I put my new engine in, if that tells you anything.
I will take pics in the sun today, there's a lot of candy paint covering metal flake that just doesn't show up under my shop lights.
To remind/ refresh everyone, this is what the other side of my ski looks like.
I have a lot of pics of the build up to this point. Hmmmm....
I kinda want to tease ya'll with them before showing you the finished product.... but...
yeah... eff it...
After I removed paint job number 3...
Yes, Pink and baby blue.... :sneaky:
Gold flake!!!
Guess i'll start a new post for the finished product. Busy day in the Really Build thread!
