SXR Carbs on a superjet

Can SXR carbs just be bolted onto the stock manifold of a superjet ? Whats the difference in carbs ?(super bn38's or dual 40) I know size !!

Thanks

Mikuni only makes 2 retail carbs per size... black and silver.

The only time Yamaha or Kawasaki should come into play is if you use OEM carbs. I would not use OEM Yamaha on Kawasaki (or vise-versa).

Not 100% on this, but should be correct.

Oops, forgot... I believe there is also an I body carb.

If it's been setup specifically for Yam/Kaw... leave it as such. I would not run it on the other.

No, they cannot be bolted onto the stock manifold.

SXR carbs are Keihin carbs, SJ are Mikunis.

so can i use the sxr 2006 mikunis on a superjet ? my carbs dont seem to work after a rebuild so need new carbs and have an sxr set about ? thanks

A style of Mikuni carb.

Let's see if I get it right....all years Superjet use either a single Mikuni SBN (Super BN) 44, or dual 38 SBN's.
I-Bodies are a different Mikuni model.

yes currently i have dual 38's but they are not running properly so was going to bolt on the sxr mikunis if they fitted but I gather they don't.

thanks for the advise, time for new set of carbs

If they aren't running right, spend some time tuning them.
Simply slapping on another set of carbs will not fix your problem (unless the replacement set is 100% jetted correctly for you application)

I have had thecarbs off about 30-40 times and rebuilt twice. still not running properly even though we have gone through from pop off from 55psi to 18psi. bolted another set of carbs on and dropped pop off the ski ran perfectly.
The ski runs really well top end/bottom end but hold throttle constant low end for 30 secs then accellerate we get a hesitation.

Are they modified at all?

Are they jetted identically to the replacement set you tried?

no all i have done was rebuild enngine (top end) and rebuilt carbs, just standard superbn38's all the jetting is same as before and to factory pipe spec. I put my carbs on another ski and they didnt run properly so we rebuilt incase we didnt do right but same problems.

its a mystery but def carb problem

What's your replacement budget?
If you really want to replace the carbs, I would look for another set of 38's. They can be had very inexpensively.

On that same note, when did the carbs start acting up?

straight after the rebuild they never worked properly. Even put back to old settings but still not running. total mystery but something must of failed on carbs. cant think what though.

im going to get another set of 38's but friend got his new sxr carbs which i thought might bolt straight on

What all did you rebuild?

Did you make 100% sure that all four plastic checkvalves were reinstalled properly and are not damaged?
