Philip that was a perfect addition to the thread! I know you and Zack got to meet and swap skis too. He said you were a cool guy and by reading this post I see you are cool and also respectful and smart! Thanks again for bringing to light some of the common courtesy things that should go unsaid but apparently need to be pointed out. Hope to meet ya someday!

I heard a lot about you as well. Thought you two were joined at the hip lol.

Are you guys coming to Daytona? Love to meet you as well.

i go by the rule if i cant afford to fix it i shouldn't ride it. i have ridden many that are far within my reach, but i just tool around easy and dont try anything stupid.
i can get a feel for a hull and engine package without leaving the water. its still scares me every time i step into one of these trays though

My rule of thumb is if you can't afford a 25k ski and don't plan on buying one, you have no business testing one.

I kind if agree and disagree with ya here. Say you want a hull, and you can afford a hull, but nobody shows up with a sub800 motor with the hull you want. Kinda can't help that. You're probably not going to pass up the opportunity. My budgets usually a/m hull with stock stoke motors, but I just ask if there's and preferences or requests when I ride. You can usually tell how a test rides going to go within the first 20 feet of them riding away from you , you can probably wave them in fast enough lol.

Let me rephrase that. If you can't afford to replace my 25k ski, you can't test ride it.

If I get on someone's ski and it sinks, ill be replacing it.

I understand what your saying but these are personal skis. Not dealers skis.

Common sense is vital here. I was very happy to have the opportunity to try a handful of skis in Daytona last year (thank you guys). "You break it- you bought it" works for me. If I had destroyed a ski I would have helped fix it or pay for the damage. Do not try moves you can't normally land on a borrowed ski..

I just got word the tpe 10mm is running very well and the new pump is as close as its going to get in time. Im all for test rides and have somewhat of an oblogation to erik to demo the engine package. Im just going to ask if you demo it just ride within your limits, get a feel for the boat and engine. If you are out there flipping other boats all day ill most likely tell you to give it hell? Phil is telling me its running well and he is afraid its going to hurt someone. Bottom line if its more than you think you can handle just go easy on it. Like everyone else keeps saying use common sense.

Just to add to this..........

The boat is running well. I'm uncomfortable on the hull and more importantly am not 100% secure in the foot holds. My test ride (in 38 degree water) was limited to what I could do safely considering my limited time on the boat. My biggest concern personally is coming out of the holds. I mentioned to Brian that people test riding need to be careful because (in my opinion) the holds are a bit loose, and people may come out. If you've never flipped before or ridden a big motor ski, the holds may lead you to believe you are tight and secure. The power of any of these large motors is impressive. XS runs massive heal stops to help keep their guys in. They aren't there for looks. It's easy to feel like you or the ski is more than capable of a flip or other maneuver, but if you're not used to the ski, power, etc, you may be surprised with the outcome.

Bottom line, ride within your ability. If you want to attempt something, get permission from the owner before taking the boat out. Keep in mind unfamiliar hulls/footholds and powerbands can cause issues and the boat may do something you're not expecting.

Lastly, no one is saying this motor is so bad a$$ people can't handle it. It's a great motor, and there is more in it for sure, but the winter weather isn't helping finalize tuning.

If you're curious about the motor or hull, talk to Brian about a demo. It's his ski and motor, and was built as a demo boat. I was simply asked to help sort out a few bugs on it.

There is enough poo talking that goes on about various engines/hulls, etc. We/I don't want any part of that. I wanted to be clear about the comments about someone getting hurt (mainly as they relate to riding unfamiliar equipment).

Take a test ride and draw your own conclusions about how it runs. :)

See you guys soon.

If I can't afford it, I ain't riding it, plain and simple. I have turned down rides on some nice skis b/c I couldn't live with myself if I ruined someone's ski and couldn't pay for it. It's just common courtesy.

You guys are welcome to test ride my skis. Just come hang out for a bit- not a hi can I ride that deal. I have foot straps so 90% of people can't do anything with them anyways. See how the ski handles on the wave. Flip or roll my ski with out my permission and we will probably have some problems. ANY ski will do airels. Just enjoy the engine and handling please. Thanks and lets have some fun.

you are the reason
RESPECT, i agree. Just a putt around can get you the feel of how it handles. I have tested peoples skis and come back in and they say to me you can ride it more. It really doesnt take long of a test ride to know if it will be something you want or not.
I have my 1100 b1 here if anybody wants to test her out...but my morphed eme i rather not test out. She takes on a little too much water if not handled properly. If u know what i mean. Seriously come see a b1 waveripper.
