The BEST cold weather mod

Bringing this back to ask a question. If I "T" the black hose coming from the head to the exhaust will that work or is that not going to cool the exhaust enough?

This would be taking water from your exhaust, I would run it from the line going out of the boat (after the exhaust if I were you) otherwise your pipe will get supper hot and you could melt some hoses. If I am not mistaken the KAWI only has one small in and out line. I would try T-ing off the out bound pisser w/ 1/4" line 1st.

Isnt that water going to be ALOT hotter than the one I am talking about? I is high 40 degree water currently the air is 50's at best. :dunno:

Bringing this one wayyyy back from the dead. I'm looking at rigging up some hand and foot warmers in the near future. Any more thoughts on the method involving tapping the handlebars? I have true dual cooling with three pissers and would probably split into the lines coming off the head. One heading to the tray and one up the pole to the bars. I would put a valve on each line to have the ability to run normally out the pissers once the weather warmed up. Can anyone else with this type of setup comment on its usefulness/safety? It seems to me that it would be much warmer with the tapped bars vs having water spray everywhere once you get moving quick. Also, how effective is having the tray warmer pissers on the firewall pointing at your feet? Are you actually catching much of that water or is it better off to run lines right up to the footholds (kind of ugly IMO)?

Every one who rides during winter has done the hand warmer set up. The joke around here is to just run a hose up the pole and extend it past the bars about 3 feet. When your riding just stuff the hose down the neck of your wetsuit and take a bath of warm water that covers your whole body and drains out your legs onto your feet. No ones actually tried it yet Lol!

i run tapped bars with holes in grips, and a small "gut sprayer" a small sprayer hole off the 90 deg fitting tapped into the center of the bars, have it tee'd off the engine water outlet to the pisser with a 1/4 turn plastic shutoff valve under the chin pad, been running this for years and works great.

I like this setup. How many holes did you drill into the grips and what size? One for each finger?

This does sound like a great idea! haha Maybe incorporate the two ideas...hand warmers with the "sprayer hole" of the bars running into your suit?

i use 3/8 od white poly tube to feed bars, then drill 4 5/32 holes through grips and bars about mid knucke, and i try to aim one at the throttle finger as well, and a 1/8 hole or so in the center fitting feeding into the bars to spray onto the gut area.. some pics how setup on our freaks..IMG01412-20121023-1010.jpgIMG01413-20121023-1011.jpgIMG01415-20121023-1012.jpgIMG01416-20121023-1013.jpg

Thanks for the description and pics...I think this is the setup I'm going to go with! Any recommendations on pissers in the tray?

I have a 7mm wetsuit, gloves and boots. I'll also be wearing my PFD and a Jetpilot tour coat. I'm going riding tomorrow up here on Lake Simcoe, Ontario. It's my first time riding in this kind of weather cause I'm originally from Sydney, Australia. How cold do youguys think I'm gonna be???

You should be fine we ride lake Ontario all the time late into November make sure you have booties on with the hand warmer mod when the winds blowing a scuba hood is good aswell.... Where are you from?

The ride was great! I took my gloves off so I could feel my throttle better. It was a bit cool on the arms which only had my Jetpilot tour coat covering. I was looking at a hood. Might get one of those scuba beanie things too by Bare.

I live in Sharon, just north of Newmarket. Next season I'm gonna try to get down to Burlington for a ride with everyone else.

i did the wetsuit tube mod over the weekend and it worked great!! l tee'd off near the pisser then put a 1/4 fuel valve i got from napa in the hull so that i can shut it off in the summer. i then ran 1/4 inch hose up the pole to a straight coupling near the bars and zip tied one side of the straight coupling this allows the other side to pull apart if you fall off. after the coup i took a piece of hose long enough to go up one sleeve and down the other with slits cut in the tube every so often. you get enough water out the other side so at wot it doesnt dump super hot water in your suit and u can spray some on your face..... worked amazing felt like i was self warming myself the whole time!! gonna tap the bars and do the hand warmers next.

To all that are concerned about weakening the bars by putting a hole in them.. my stock bars came with a tapped hole on one side for the throttle anyway and that location is where most of the force is applied
