or take a round dowel or anything round about 1/4" diameter, take a hose clamp, put clamp around the hose and dowel, tighten up until you get desired flow. Or hook a ball-valve inline and just close off until desired flow is achieved. This is not rocket science!

cold seizure on small motors with cast pistons not making alot of power is rare,larger motors with huge forged pistons,you better take the time to restrict it right or your in for issues even if you try to warm it up slow.

perfect thread to fill everyone in on a product we've been working on
our "adjust-a-flow" water outlets we have a batch off at the plater's and should have them up on our site as soon as we get them back

put as Manny outlets in line as you need for proper cooling in the summer than just turn down the flow in the winter
watch for the new product release hopefully tomorrow

As far as telling temperature, no thermometer needed if you use hand-warmers (and you should). If it's too cold to keep your hands warm, it's not restricted enough. If it's too hot on your hands, it's too hot.

Thats what I run too, comes with 2, 4, and 6mm inserts

Wow.. That's pretty sweet. Can't wait to hear the options+ prices. Wonder if it's only available in the 90 degree.

Carb adjustment is the only thing I do for cold water riding. I just put the ski in the water and let it warm up easy. Once I let it warm up for a minute, I ride the piss out of it just like I would in summer. But my water doesn't get super cold like some of the other people on here. The coldest water my ski sees is about 50*F
I can imagine when water is below 40* that cooling restrictors or single cooling might be a good idea.

As long as you have stock cast type pistons I wouldn't worry too much. I rode my old SN in ice all the time and never bothered with restrictors or anything. With my 900 I swap all my restrictors over to 2mm and slowly warm it up on the water. When you run forged piston then you need to start being a little more careful.
