guys, it will be at least a month until we are allowed regular, full access to the peninsula.

no telling how long it will take to get the insurance company to pay out.

add to that, the General Land Office is already trying to use the opportunity and move the building line back from the dunes...if they get what they want, I won't likely be able to rebuild. see: http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/front/6003825.html

It will likely be 6 months or more before I can even think about setting new pilings and rebuilding.

But - I wait with great anticipation the day I can start! I truly appreciate all your offers and when the time comes, I'll let you all know.

I did construction for 4 years, and still part time for Brothers company.
Did Elect. for 2 years. "Block Out"= Stairs Windows and Doors For 2.
and Designing for 15. Plumbing, but there is alot of those.
There are a bunch of contractors on the boards. Im sure it would
be no prob. to throw that house up in a couple days.

Holy crap Shawn - I'm sorry to hear about your house. That place has hosted some good times, so I'm sure it will rise again from the ashes (or mud). Perhaps you should change your name from Penguin to Phoenix when that happens...!

Good luck with the insurance - I'm sure they're about to drag you through bureaucratic hell since that seems to be their main function after a traumatic disaster like this.

it's already started.

We only put the policy in place about 2 weeks ago. We don't have a policy number, so we can't file a claim until we get it. Can't get the insurance agent on the phone since they are located in Crystal Beach. TWIA has their phone lines shut down, so we can't call them.

and so it begins.

I can't even begin to say how much this sucks. I have so many great memories of that place and have such great friends because of it.

I'm glad that everyone is OK though. We will just have to make new memories at the new place.
