The Ressurection

The Ressurection (continued)

Well I was honored to have the chance to buy this hull and stoked to get working on it. It started life as a flatwater XFT hull and was quickly put through it's paces. I got it a few months ago and was excited to begin the restoration of an insane boat. I was brought up at my families salvage yard and I am very familiar with wrecked or salvage vehicles. In a way I feel like I am just repairing another vehicle but to me this is like repairing a Ferrari or Lambo. I absolutely love it. Here are a couple pics of how it looked when I got it, I hope it's alright to post them.

I didn't get to start working on it until I PMed a few guys in the Buffalo area and ended up meeting Xeon. He basically let me use his garage for the past two months and I am so thankful for that. Almost all of the work I have done to it is because of what I was able to do at his house and I am forever thankful. (Another reason why I love the X) :Banane09:

wow- you have some work to do. small bits, set easy goals. it will get daunting. looks like you went to the right place to get help. good luck!

its gonna be such a sweet and strong lightweight mo fo once your done with it
keep up the buildin

i love builds like these...even your last one haha:cheer2::cheer2:

The Nose

The first thing I had to do was strip the hull down to nothing. It had a lot of glass work on it and man was I sanding/grinding for a while. Once all thats was off (probably a week later) my first task I wanted to tackle was put a nose back on it so it looked like a roundnose again, no offense to squares. It took a while to fit it but thank god I didn't have to build a nose myself, well on the top I didn't at least.

I forgot to mention, I am doing all the work with 19.7 oz. carbon fiber that I bought from www.uscomposites.com It is a very, very strong material and I want to keep the weight down to an absolute minimum. I would like this hull to be under 70 lbs. when I am done with it, but we'll see about that.

Ya just a little work, but I love every second of it ,as long as I'm wearing long sleeves that is. Ya Xeon has been a great guy to be working with except I have to compete with his girlfriend.

Why thank you sir, hopefully it will "build up" to your expectations.

Inside Reinforcement

Once the nose was on I directed my focus on reinforcing the inside of the ski. It had a ton of glass all over the place and I had to either peel it off or sand off the tough stuff. I first put a piece of carbon down on the bottom, wanted to get the tough one done first. One of my favorite parts of this whole ski is the way the scupper tubes work and how easily water will drain out of this hull.

Then it was time to get the sides done too. The left side I was able to just lay down the carbon but the right side of the hull I had to first fill in the bondline with some two part foam then sand it down so there weren't any voids. I am very pleased with the way it came out and even with one layer on the sides right now it is pretty stiff.

what you have done so far looks great, impressive..that hull mill make you quite the happy guy when its done, XFT hulls are like ferrari's...keep up the great work I need the motivation to get me in the mood to fir up my grinder as well:brap:

nice work on the hull, from the pics, i would say its turning out really well. are you keeping it short or going to fix up the ends?

Keeping it short for sure but It will look a little like yours when I'm done. Did you have to relocate the ride plate inserts the way you shortened your hull?
