the trivial complaints thread

No Chevy Cruze. Worst part is it's 3 months out of warranty. Next car will definitely be a Subaru. It just sucks having to fight with the dealership to try to get the cost of the new motor covered or partially covered. It had regular documented oil changes at the dealership and they are trying to tell me it was starved of oil at some point. Under my ownership it has never once been low on oil nor is it leaking or burning any. It only has 87,000 miles on it.

I hear ya. Just had a few 90+ hour checks the last two weeks.

We shut down the steam side of our plant for 8 days. It hasn't been shut off on purpose since it opened in the 60's. Ran on all diesel power during that time with a portable boiler on a trailer in the parking lot to make domestic hot water.

Everything went smooth until we tried to fire our boilers back up on natural gas. The new regulators they put in just would not work. We tried them a few different ways before giving up and going back to the originals.

Is that 90 for 1 week or 2?

It's not uncommon for me to get close to that in overtime but lucky for me I only go on call once every 7 weeks

You get paid 8 hours of rest time?

Nope. They just went through the crew and asked if each guy would be willing to do one short swing for the week. I was home at 2:30, in bed by 3 and up and 9 to go back in.

Double and a half weekends are the money maker though. Wish we got more of those. They only pay that rate when it's Unscheduled OT.

I was on the scheduled HVAC watch today and only get 1.5 time for that since it's a weekend.

If they ask us to stay for blizzard watch or anything like that they pay you 1/2 time to sleep at the job.
