the trivial complaints thread

So I have been having sciatica pain on and off for a year now, they tried cortisone injections and several meds I couldn't take , so finally I got a referral to physical therapy and a bunch of X-rays done.

Degenerative discs in my back and very little movement in my left hip which my back is trying to compensate for causing swelling and irritation , so Monday I go in for more X-rays and Friday back for more physical therapy , but they are talking hip replacement surgery pending on what the X-rays show.
I have DDD too along with a number of other disk related things. Get an inversion table. It's the best thing you can do. Decompress with it at least once per day. A couple minutes of hanging upside down often makes the pain go away completely for me until I compress the discs enough to touch nerves again, which could be from being on my feet too long or lifting heavy things, but sometimes the pain stays away all day.

As for the hernia, we have a clinic not far from me that does the repair without mesh. It's a permanent fix. People come from around the world to get their hernias repaired, or a repair of the previous repair. I'm going on nearly ten years since I got my hernia fixed by them and it's still like it never happened. I hear from a lot of people who get the mesh repair that they can feel it and it hurts sometimes. I couldn't believe how many people were there to get their mesh removed and hernia fixed again. The hospital is called Shouldice. Hernias are the only thing they do. Check the cost of flights and consider having them do it.

They did my repair with mesh and no pain whatsoever, the discs are not my main issue right now, the lack of hip movement in my right hip is, ATM I can still work, tide skis whatever so I will probably go as long as I ca before having anything serious done.

l’ve had 2 hernia mesh repairs. Both have held with no issues. l guess some are more susceptible to problems than others.
Be careful how long you wait. Reason being l waited too long for my hand and wrist repair. The PT said mine was more of a salvage operation. Nice to hear..

Good to hear. Don't ignore the discs though. With DDD you can keep problems away with the inversion table, even mildly improve the discs. It's a really easy solution to something that will slowly continue getting worse and is really debilitating when it gets bad.

Ran my boat aground a couple weeks ago while tending to my drunk buddy. By the time we had idled back to the dock he was a mess. Estimate was over 7500 dollars. So far I have spent 1100 and got it torn down and ready for repair. Buddy is doing the glass work for me and I am doing the mechanical repairs. 20230621_125820.jpg20230621_125828.jpg

So I drop off a piece at my buddies to get it clear-coated, I can do clearcoat but I usually don't , he loves base clear and does it all the time, so I am thinking hey hook me up right ?

The piece is visual carbon fiber and while it's not perfect it looks pretty damn good and it is only visual carbon fiber piece I have ever done.

So I get it back today and it's black, yep solid black with pinholes and it looks like crap , there is no sign of carbon fiber whatsoever, so now I am sanding all the paint off and I will just do it myself, what's wrong with people nowadays ?

This morning when I left for work. The level of laziness is beyond my comprehension. You have to literally work at being this lazy. To make matters even more mind-blowing, It would have fit inside the mailbox. I'm guessing it was an Amazon contracted yahoo.

Pretty sure Amazon/UPS/FEdEx is not allowed to touch your mailbox. Federal delivery only from USPS.

I was out running errands the other day. I was waiting for the left turn arrow to light up green... I'm not sure what it's like where anyone else lives but here, those are called a protected green. It means when that arrow is lit, the vehicle on the opposite side of the road trying to turn right is legally obligated to stay stopped until the green arrow changes. In my stupid city it seems nobody knows what the road laws are. My arrow lit up, I begin to make my turn until a hard braking because someone ran the red light from the west bound lane, I go to proceed and just as I get ready to shift into the outer lane because my turn was immediately off the end of the green arrow turn, an inbound moron runs that red light to turn right directly in front of me and again I pile on the brakes and now all the turning traffic has to as well and wait for this total waste of life to get through the red he ran. It's really not that hard to drive and have common sense... unless you have to deal with these totally clueless clowns. Where are they getting their licenses from?? Is Ronald McDonald handing them out in happy meals?? I used to love driving but now I can't wait to get off the road any time I have to go anywhere

Trust me it's the same everywhere, people here will pass you on a 45 mph country road on a double yellow line going around a curve and not even blink..

Got 8" of rain last night. My daughter's B1 is now ON top of the dock not next to it. Half the neighborhood is pumping out their basements. Hobbes is loving it though, because now he can drink from the lake right off my lawn. It's typically far too long of a reach.flood.png

I've had a lot of driving related arguments online with people, and others will jump in to tell me I'm wrong. It doesn't end until I cite the HTA and prove them all wrong. The one I hate most is people thinking if there are two lanes, the person turning left has right of way into the left lane and the person turning right has right of way into the right lane, no matter what the light says. The number of times I've had to lay on the air horn while taking two lanes to turn my firetruck... For the record, if anyone disagrees with you, the laws state that you have to stay reasonably close to the curb or line while turning but can go as wide as you need with the front to keep the rear from going over that line or curb. You just have to finish your turn in your corresponding lane before moving over.
