What was the price tag on that

He sold me their display model so it was $550 (normal price is 700) plus I had to order a gas water pump to pump the water into the tub from the lake since Most of the lakes around here won't let me drive my truck down to where it will be set up. That ran me 350 for a quality one.

-13 degrees this morning, -26 wind chill. Toyota won't start(first time ever), Subaru shows low air pressure in tire(s) (probably because of the cold), rust bucket old truck starts up like a champ.....now, if only it didn't take 40 minutes to warm the cab up.....

For you FL and CA guys, at these temperatures a bench seat in a truck that is typically as comfy as a marshmallow is like sitting on concrete. Walking out of the gym this morning back to my truck, which was about 80 ft away, my hair froze solid, and it actually hurts to breathe. Thinking maybe I should skip snowshoeing today.

Kids younger than the ski I'm selling, using that as a talking point to offer me 80% of my asking price. Then adding "I have cash". As if I expected to get paid in some obscure way.

Time to work harder and save up. No one gave me a deal on a ski because I was young.

Im surprised he didnt try to pay with Bitcoin lol! Kick rocks kid....go get a job at Chic-Fil-A and come back when you got the cash to pay my price.

My work week is 50 hours.. straight pay. If I have work that needs to be done them I would go in on Saturday morning. It's quiet, few distractions. I can usually get more done in 4 hours than in a 10 hour day. Boss (one of the owners) comes in saturday morning and says "we cannot afford any overtime, I appreciate you coming in when you need to but we just cannot afford it." I am the only estimator that does not get a vehicle allowance, my gas is paid (pump on site) for. Other estimators have allowance, iPads with 4G etc etc. I don't have either. There goes any chance of picking up a hull now. 50 hours goes to the bank, anything over has been my play money. Don't get me wr9ng. I get a check every friday. Just kinda bummed.

And I guess they skirt the issue of paying you time and a half for the ten hours over your 40 you work each week because you work in sales?
nope. Management.
I am an Estimator/Project Manager.

Russell (man that started the company [RIP], did not believe in salaries, he believes if you work, you should get paid. At one point we had a guarantee of 40 hours a week pay no matter what. But the laws changed. Yes, It is a loop hole. But when I started, I was told up front that it was a 50 hour week 6-5. I dont have a problem with that aspect. Just getting told "No working over" now is a bummer.

It just saddens me what this country has come to. Everyone wants more and more out of the worker for less. Most of the general public hasn't studied enough history to see what our grandparents/great grandparents fought for in terms of workers rights.

Something as simple as the 40 hour work week was a huge battle 80-100 years ago. It seems we are getting back to that again.

That blows BK. It almost seems to be the thing in a lot of industries lately, even to mine to some degree. It just makes me wonder where the money goes?

Prices keep being driven down, companies are under-cutting each other to get business. So then other companies have to find ways to cut costs, like cutting jobs or cutting back on peoples OT... or whatever.

It really is a bit of a concern for the 'future.' Whatever you want to qualify as 'the future' anyway... I read something the other day that basically said that 5 million jobs will be lost to "technology' by 2020. To me, that means that "technology" will work for less than a human, so business owners can be more profitable.

The bigger question is, is this savings/ increase in profit necessary in ^^^ that scenario for the business owners (or stock holders) to keep food on the table? Or is it just a way to make more money and buy another yacht?

@Big Kahuna I would recommend you download the "indeed" app and keep an eye out for other jobs. Maybe you find one that will treat you better, or maybe another equivilant job is just an option and it gives you leverage to go to your current employer and say "look, i'm ready to walk, you guys cut my OT, I don't get an iPad or a Shiatsu massage on Friday's like the other guys... I need ya'll to step up or i'm out the door."

Had the "talk" last week about numbers are down. etc etc. I know they are down. Mine were down 450k from the year before. But that in my case can be 1 missed bid! Have 1.2million on the books currently on jobs that will be completed by the end of the summer.
