How do you make that happen? Can you still?
Yeah, you can still ride up there, but it's not exactly legal. Awhile back all pwcs were banned in Grand Canyon Nat'l Park, but its not patrolled because the water is too shallow for park service boats (I figured this out because I work for the park service) so as long as they don't catch you launching you are ok. I launched out of Pierce Ferry (the northern tip of Lake Mead Nat'l Rec Area) and headed up from there. Pierce ferry is only about a mile down river from the beginning of the Grand Canyon. It's a pretty cool ride, I suggest doing it on a blaster because they hold more fuel, its like 20ish miles one way to get to the rapids. You also see other cool things along the way, like the skywalk looks pretty cool from the bottom. Just type these points in google. Here is where we launch 36.125518, -113.982446 and this is about as far as you can go on a B1 35.822641,-113.570834 you can go a few more miles but you have to worry about gas to get back. If your ever in Las Vegas PM me and we can do the ride!
EDIT: If you come to town we can also ride to the bottom of the Hoover Dam, thats another really cool ride. We don't really have to worry about the two stroke ban here on Lake Mead, it not enforced very well.
