Super Jet Thinking of selling my loaded '09 SJ

Still Fat....
Question.....and I really do not want to get into a heated discussion about this. It is more of a general question. If the majority say it is worth about $7500, + or -, that is roughly the same price as a brand new stock Super Jet. I would imagine anyone walking into a store would choose this ski, which basically has everything, over the stock ski all day and everyday. That is where I am confused. Even if the buyer purchases the new ski and purchases all the parts that this one has it will cost him a lot of money to get the parts and install himself.

it would need to be something someone want, customizing has its advantages and disadvantages
would you trust what is done, just because someone said so
how do you truly know its taken care of
these are typical reasons why someone may go new

when we were looking at cars, used cars were only a few dollars off the new car price... why would i go used, when new had 0 miles, and didn't have cig burns in the seat, etc...

it all comes down to its worth what someone wants to pay

How his ski can be worth $7500 when that is the same price as a new stock super jet. His ski basically has all the goodies. Forget what he paid for it all in.

Buying and modding a brand new superjet is akin to flushing your money down a toilet. People who don't know better want a new ski and then start to add to it. People who do know better want a ski that is already modded or buy a used ski and mod it THEMSELVES. Brand new will screw you. Something is only worth what someone will pay for it, not what you spent on it.

But at $7500 everyone is saying it is worth the same as a stock super jet at a store. How can that be? If you were to put his ski next to a brand new stock ski in a store people will choose his right away. correct? If so, than it has to be worth more than $7500. That is my point and my opinion. I do not care what he spent etc.

People who don't know better will want the "new" ski over the ski that is "suped up" because they think the modded ski will be less reliable.

werd... for 8-10 grand you can get a whole lot of ski. sometimes you see am hulls with big stroker motors go for around that price or a little more. the ski is deff worth alot more than 8k, but the truth is no one is gonna pay any more for just a limited sj. by all means, its a beautiful ski but the market is what the market is.

Simple: it is used, not new.

A used, stock '09 might catch in the neighborhood of 5k, give or take.
The mods add maybe 2k-3k, depending on the buyer. (the mods are used, too)
It is a very nice, used Superjet with mild mods.

If I were a buyer, anything over 8k gets me into a used custom hull with a modded motor.
Unfortunately, there is nothing special about this particular ski that would justify elevating it into that price class.

Just like Matt said. Nice ski but used so carries a used price tag even if it has gold plated nuts on the head its still used.

It's all about the market. In this market (aka guys on this site) they buy their own parts and work on their own skis. So to list this ski on this site, you might get 8K...

Anyone here looking to spend 10K plus on a ski would likely just build a Matrix, Rickter, Superfreak, BOB, etc. So in this market, unfortunately the ski isn't worth close to what has been put into it.

Correct me if Im wrong.

some people just have to have a brand new ski and they would choose the new one over his modded one for the same price. also, its easier to finance a new ski at a dealership then to save up $8,000+ to buy a used one from a private party.
i would never buy a new one cause as soon as you get that thing home you are taking half the parts off and tossing them (pipe, head, hood, nose piece, bars, pole, prop, grate,rideplate,.......).

this is exactly why i punched my buddy after he bought a brand new 08.....

you want your money back? Part the ski out. thats the only way you'd even get close to getting some of it back and its gong to take a while.

or ride it to death.

And I think you would have to be very patient to get that price.
To get the most possible out of it, there are two options:

1. Put the ski back to stock condition as much as possible. Sell all the remaining aftermarket parts separately.

2. Advertise internationally and hope that an affluent overseas buyer will pick it up.

The JK red warthog ski had two very important things going for it: it was a unique and recognizable ski used by a top name competitor, and it had a very nice, custom Blowsion paint job.
If it hadn't been for those two factors, that ski would have sold for a LOT less.

Any chance you guys can stay on topic and maybe answer my question. not trying to be rude. What he paid for and what he spent is over. It is in the past.

Im sorry, is this your thread now?

To answer your question, yes. It would cost more to start from scratch with all new parts but his ski is used and so are all the parts.

Don't get us wrong, we aren't saying it isn't worth every penny, we are just saying that not too many people are going to spend that much. Most will buy a good stock ski and slowly build up as time and money permit.

If someone has the cash and wants a fully built ski then this is definately the way to go. The problem is, customers like that are few and far between and most sellers keep marking down till they fit a market rather than wait for the perfect buyer to come around.

If you can wait then perfect but if you want/need to sell right away then expect to be in the $6k - $8k range.

Anyone who remembers the red bomber ski sale I posted about earlier in the thread will understand the point i'm trying to make.

If you look around at what's for sale right now, 7k can buy you a lot of ski. I can think of a couple for that much off the top of my head that I'd pick over this one.

6k now, 6.5 or 7k in the spring

By no means am I on this guys side. I am just asking as a newbie. My last question would be(because I do like his ski a lot), is if you guys can get a lot more ski for let's say 8K, can you post the links? I would be real curious to know where these skis are that you guys mention and what they have. The one thing I do like about his ski, is that is was built by professionals whom I trust.
