This awkwardness has to end....

Lets face it, if you rock a wetsuit with a hood and no helmet you look (or at least i look) like a giant black sperm. Not only that but my hood morphed my face into a permanent duck face look. It might have been a tad too tight ha ha. For real, i feel like the fat awkward guy on the beach sporting a speedo simply because there is nothing else to wear....everyone points and laughs but the poor guy just wants to enjoy the water. I'm thinking of finding some good riding pants to wear over my wetsuit, and maybe ride with a bandana over my face like snowboarders. At least then if i look like a tool no one will be able to recognize my face. lol. Does anyone else have the same complex as me or am i the only one? Any suggestions on what you do or do you just embrace the black sperm look?

I feel the same way LOL, i cant wear just a wet suit, short or long. I have to wear my board shorts or something over it. It probably doesnt help that i am in fact a pudgy kid right now haha.

I get people making fun of me with my wet suit and helmet but I don't care. People are always asking why I'm wearing a helmet and I just say that I would rather look stupid than have a 300 pound ski bust my skull open. Better safe than sorry.
I've had some crazy looks as well while gearing up. They understand what the helmet is for about 45 second after I take off, haha.

Bump... We need a solution people. I hate looking like a dweeb when windsurfing or jetskiing in november.

Next time some one laughs or points at you when wearing a wetsuit to play in the water during the winter just say, Do you have the balls to get in the water during the middle of the winter? Yep, thought not now go away.

Some companies do made riding pants made for jet skis. They are pretty stylish and could be worn over your wet suit.

I bought a "squid lid" but have not worn it ! It docent fit under my helmet that I would not want to ride without !! If you ride in the surf and don't use a helmet you asking for trouble

I grew up with a wetsuit and never thought about it. Lived in Santa Cruz and they were more common than shorts. Honestly, it's a little strange for me to see guys wearing board shorts over their wetsuit, but to each his own. Feel comfortable, don't worry about others.

The first season of suiting up I felt weird, being the only one of my friends doing it. Sometimes wearing a helmet people watch you expecting you to do something cool, better safe then sorry and just wear it. Hardest thing to get used to was being able to hear as well with a helmet on.

Ha ah guys I still rock a wet suit and never let it keep me from riding.the hood was my main issue in the OP. My only point was there has to be a way to make it not look so dumb ;) until someone comes out with something that looks good I'll be content with looking like a goof on the water when everyone else here is finishing up their snowboard season.

Ya I'm definitely not gonna rock the shorts over the suit ha ha. Again I didn't have an issue with a wet suit until I threw a hood into the combination lol. That's when things got ugly ;)
