That's not a simple slap together hull at that point. My advice is be patient and let Tony take his time with it to make sure it's done right. Daytona is right around the corner and every hull builder is busy. You are very limited for options on an AM hull with Kawi drivetrain... EME, BOB, and maybe Brawler? (For that type of hull) Don't give up on an AM hull build just because custom work takes more time than you anticipated. Building an AM hull is exciting and can be frustrating also. You should be thankful you picked a hull and got the builder to customize his product that much for you. How much extra is he charging you for all his custom work?

Ktm don't get me wrong but I don't see why kawi will take longer?

Esp that the bottom of the hull is based off a kawi

The hull is ment to be glued together that means all the driveline setup is done?

Kawi does takes much longer to do. I believe I saw your hull in person being fitted for sxr and its a Damn nice ski. Every detail is done right. I'm sure you'll be happy with it.

Im guessing because unless he plans to use some sort of adapters, the bottom needs to be set up for kawi motor mount spacing, the firewall will need to be changed for a kawi carrier bearing, and then the pump tunnel will need to be changed to accomodate a kawi pump...so its pretty much like creating a whole new ski.

No that means the hull was 85% done with Yamaha setup before the down payment was made. Now before he bonds the 2 decks, he needs to adapt the bottom deck to accept Kawi motor mounts, carrier bearing for bulkhead, and pump mounting as well as pump tunnel and shoe. Not sure how many Kawi setups will sell so it sounds Tony is really bending over backwards to do all this work. If it were my business I would have said "no, buy Yamaha parts" but it's not. I just think all details should be laid on the table. The fact that he's setting it up for Kawi means it'll take a lot of extra time so maybe he shouldn't complain.

I was under the impression that it was 85% setup for kawi. Yes if it was 85% done for yami then had to be split again that will take much longer

All hull builders seem to do it, but I don't get why they don't just create a queue and work in order. A ski does not take months to build no matter how custom it is. I understand lead times, to keep work constant and all that, but why are people's skis put on the back burner to pump out simple ones?

Maybe I misread the situation but ihate5mphzone said it was 85% done when he made his deposit. So unless Tony was already setting it up for a Kawi then that will take time. Tony isn't the greatest at communicating his progress and timeframes but if he takes longer than agreed its because he is focused on quality. My hull is taking a little longer than anticipated and I started to express that to him... 2 days later I called him and texted him saying I want my hull done right so do whatever he needs to do to make it right. I know I will be happier in the end by letting him take his time. I'd only be cheating myself since I know he is still making progress daily

Just to clear everything

Your wrong the hull was bonded ,bulkhead is kawi and aluminum block for the motor mounts is laid up already before months before i even put a deposit (this hull was supposed to be a friend of his who has a little boy that has a kawi that would like to put on this hull)

Here pics of the hull

But me and tony talked already hull should be finished by the end of this month

Here recent pics before i complained about the delay

Motor mounts are setup,wb,tank, battery inserts are in so im guessing pump shoe and pump should be already done too because he has to line the motor to the pump

Glad you talked to him to figure things out. Maybe I assumed a couple things but still... Until the first Kawi hull is completed, it's still custom and a new design/product.

Id be less concerned about the creepy chickens, and more concerned about the bond line looking like someone was beating it with a hammer.
