Tigercraft V3 and more

Yes, This is an assembly thread and not a build thread. But I figured I'd put up some pics to share details on the new V3 hull.

First things first, I ordered the hull at the end of August and just received it Dec 4th. Not a bad turn around time for a custom hull, especially in today's world.

My current hull is a V2 which I loved. Very stable at speed, carved on rails, flips / rolls easily, and it's comfortable for beginners and experienced riders to progress on. The V2 chines are DEEP and I'm not good enough of a rider to control over rotating flips in big surf, So knowing I wanted a looser ride and something to handle larger waves I felt this V3 was a good choice. See comparison pics below.

My powertrain is coming right out of the V2. LPW 735 w/ zeel, 144mag, 9/15 hooker.

I'll include random assembly pics, and give a ride report once she's all together. Might also throw in some pics of putting together Brad's new to him V2, my new to me '16 SJ, and maybe a truck bed rack build. We'll see.

Where does this fit , or rather compare to the other SV’s ( SV1 SV2 SVPRO)? I’m behind on my Tigercraft nomenclature. I thought the V2 was the Aquabot fixed steer. I assume this is a SV (surf version) derivative? Seeing V3 in your thread title I was expecting some kind of fixy.

So the "V2X" is the fixed steer. They are making fixed steer hoods for the V3 (V3X) if that's what you're into. Just not for me

Tony's original description is that it shares characteristics from the SV's, M1, and V2. But in my experience it looks and rides pretty darn close to a buddy's SV1

No I was just thinking I wish I did, I'd guess it's still a bit lighter than a SJ hull. I'll weigh it when it's all built to see where it ends up.
I was surprised with my m1. It was 120 lbs with the hood. That was a full carbon top deck and glass bottom. I’m interested to see where this one is at. It looks like it has foam core strips along the bottom keel.

Wow that seems pretty light right?

Honestly I thought those strips were aluminum?

Hard to say. To me I felt it was heavy. Definitely a full blown surf layup. A full glass xfr layup rickter is 120. I figured getting the top deck in full carbon would save a couple lbs.

I don’t think you would want to use aluminum. It’s probably a core material like soric or some kind of foam.

Is it for strength or manufacturing? My V2 didn't have any strips

Made some progress this weekend. Turf was by far the most time consuming project, that wore me out!!

Everything else has bean easy peasy. The motor lined right up with couch mounts. Overall I'm very please with the fit and finish especially the Aurora pole.Screen Shot 2021-12-10 at 6.28.28 AM.png
