Tigercraft V3 Build

Okay friends. The ski has arrived, it arrived here at 2pm at work and I'm mentally already checked out. Hard not to be anything other than excited at this point because this was a once very young adult dream that is now within reach for my older, fatter self. That out of the way it took me 2 years to save for this hull and a Christmas bonus on top of it.

This will be my very first AM build. Just know I'm not made of money but I'm definitely in the mindset of buy once, cry once. If that means it takes another 2 years to build so be it.

The reasons I went with tigercraft is because of all of the amazing reviews iv seen and the durability of the V3 ski itself. The reason I went with the V3 is because it had seem to work well with most applications I wanted which was boat chasing and surf.

After much though and poking around my plan right now is to put a jm 781 in it, Powerfactor lay down pipe in it and a Solas 148 mag pump with a pro xscrean trim system. There is obviously a bunch of other parts that I need but these are the next big financial hurtal that I'll be facing. Iv got a few stock 701 engines that I'm trying to sell and a few odds and ends on kawi 550s and wave raider parts to help advance the purchase of the engine.

I will update everything as they come and take the time to document everything I can. For now I will enjoy my very VERY expensive garage ornament.

All help and suggestions as I will need it surely is greatly appreciated. Here she is!

Man beautiful ski there! I did the same thing a few years back and sold my worn out Super Jet and saved for a few years and bought my first aftermarket hull brand new. What saved me the most money in the build is I was able to purchase another nice round nose that had all the good parts and nice motor already done. Then I stripped it and used everything on the new hull sold the round nose hull and got back half what I paid for it whole.

thank u sir. iv heard alot of guys doing this. unfortunately everybody wants a premium for there rn superjets nowadays. im always keeping my eyes peeled for the right deal to float around though.

Keep an eye out for cheap sit downs too, they have many of the same parts without the SJ markup
Ya iv already pillaged a 96 wave raider, and about to tear into my 94 to get the goodies out too. Unfortunately I can't use most of the parts. I can press out raider mid shaft and replace with sj midshaft but still need sj shaft. I don't know what skis come with stock dual 44 carbs, that would be nice to have.

Definitely not worth buying a running superjet just to strip it down. Find a non running sit down and use that. New oem tank can be found on partzilla.com. go ahead and plan on rebuilding the engine before putting it in the new hull for piece of mind.

Any 64x 760 will have dual 44s. I'd personally recommend going with the a/m mikunis over the oem 44s like on the 760. The a/m 44s already have the chokes removed, include primer fittings abd also have additional fuel and air bleed holes which supply additional fuel off idle that helps tuning in that circuit. If you're on a strict budget the 760 carbs will work OK. Hit up @Sasquachcrap for a driveshaft he can custom make any length shaft you need with quick turnaround.

When I built my first superjet I started with a hull with hood and pole. I found a 93 square nose and 96 raider for 600. Between those two skis I had enough to build the superjet. All said and done I was into that superjet for under 3500 including 1500 for the hull and basic engine refresh.

The one thing I have not looked into.is a/m carb manufacturers. Good brands to look at?

Just get mikuni 46s and call it a day. Those will work well on every engine combo from a ported 701 to a dasa 950 and everything in between. The a/m are just actual mikuni sbns you buy online or from someone like jet maniac. They'll have t handle adjustment screws, 90 degree fuel fittings, extended throttle shafts for easy dual carb modification. They also have additional fuel bleeds for the idle circuit which makes the popoff/ lowspeed circuit easier to tune. You'll spend about 500 on the carbs for new but they're well worth not dealing with carb hassles.
